Does anyone watch the olympics anymore?

We’ve been watching every night. As usual, rooting for the Americans at every event they’re in. Enjoying the biathalon right now. No Americans in sight but very fun to watch. I asked who watched the olympics at work today....crickets.

I'll admit I haven't been. Not for political reasons or anything like that but just not into it. It is fun to read tweets from people who say they didn't know certain sports even existed and then after a couple of hours of watching are yelling at the TV all the things they think performers are doing wrong. Haha

I do not really watch cable or network TV anymore, but I have always liked the winter Olympics, and people at my work are watching them.

The greatest sporting event of my life - and I think this is true for a lot of Americans of a certain generation - was the Soviet Union-United States hockey game of 1980. There has never been another sporting event in my life - no super bowl, no world series - that even comes close to being as electrifying as that hockey game and it's immediate aftermath were.

Absolutely the best event in sports in my lifetime. I was in the 9th grade. Still remember it. Love the ESPN story on it too.

No. Not being able to watch live in real time never makes sports appealing. It also doesn't help that NBC spreads this stuff out over so many channels it is impossible to keep track of.

I watched Chloe Kim win the gold tonight, and my jaw literally dropped. I'm not a big snowboard watcher, but it's easy to spot greatness. That was awesome.

I'll watch a lot of the other stuff. I remember when the Canadians really gloated after the last winter games about hockey victories in both the men's & women's, so I'll be watching those groups w/ some interest. I like all of the downhill skiing events.

Love the Olympics. You never know when you're going to get a moment for the ages.

That is actually the only thing about the Cold War I miss. The Olympic competition between the soviets and Americans!

I always felt the 1980 hockey match was payback-of-sorts for their shocking upset of our 1972 basketball team....

Can't turn away. Every time they are on the kids get annoyed because the TV has some curling event or something... lol

I prefer summer, because of the sheer volume of team sports, and because I don't really love skiing, skating, and snowboarding, but, there is still a lot to love. Hockey, the biathlon, and I enjoy the curling. Bobsledding has my attention, thanks to Cool Running. I suppose I prefer skating over swimming, at least.

I watched the figure skating did you see that American woman doing a triple Axel? It was a first for Americans, as the triple had previously only been done by Japanese skaters.

I am fascinated by the skeleton, you need some serious balls to do that event. The luge is even scarier.

I imagine to myself that the biathlon is an evolution of Scandinavian and Finnish warfare, as I watch it. Ski to a vantage point, take a long-range shot at the invader coming over the pass, and ski on to the next point.

I watch that too, when I can. It's mighty difficult to hold a rifle steady when you're winded, especially in the wind.
One thing I noticed was the prone position when shooting. Some laid flat with both legs straight.
When shooting in the prone position, I was trained to slid my right knee forward to about waste level,
transferring your weight off your chest, making breathing easier, especially during the rapid-fire relays.
