Children are not going to be running a convenience store... But there's not a thing wrong with kids being in work study programs... including a work study requirement for graduation... So many different learning opportunities...

Wouldn't that violate federal child labor law?

If this comes to fruition, it will be the low-income families' kids doing the work and struggling in school. The middle class and rich kids will have even more of an advantage. The Red states already have enough issues with providing quality education. This ain't gonna help.

Well, the point of this farce is to replace the immigrant workers with home-grown ones. So they'll be doing *those* jobs -- meat packing plants, landscaping, hotel and nursing home housekeeping, food service in restaurants, harvesting crops, etc. All for minimum wages!

My brothers had paper routes. I doubt if that's a thing anymore since so few ppl get the paper. We got the daily paper for years when my kids were growing up, but it was delivered around 5 am by a person in a vehicle, not a kid on a bike.

As I said, the jobs would be those that migrants do now. I bet you'd love to see a work-study program where the kid is tryinig to learn carpentry but his "work" is changing beds in a hotel, or picking fruit or on the line at a meat packing plant. You're such an idiot. :laugh:

Nowadays they have cars and are usually full on adults. They simply could not afford to pay kids for smaller routes. This is the buggy whip company trying to survive in an automobile world... They need to figure out how to make money on the interwebs and stop paying idiots to deliver the ever skinnier news rags to porches.

I doubt anyone would let a young kid run a convenience store by themselves.

Probably more like stocking shelves overnight, or working in a warehouse or in 24 hr restaurant bussing tables and washing dishes.

Every kid with a paper route keeps track of who's paid up then goes around collecting.

My friends did the same thing.

It's still not like having a regular job during the week and working night shifts.

No 14 or 15 year old kid has their own car. Very few 16 year olds do either.

This issue is about young teenagers being allowed to work nights and the graveyard shift and do so on school nights which will obviously have a negative effect on their grades, not to mention their overall health.

But then, most of the kids effected will be from lower income Democrat voting families, so DeShameless doesn't give a shit as long as it keeps the employment numbers looking good.

This is sending kids to bus tables overnight in 24 hour restaurants or stock grocery shelves or clean floors.

So a law letting a 15 yo work at 3am in a supervised location is bad

But a curfew law on a 15 yo banning being out running the streets at 3am is bad/racist
