Retirees 'stunned' as market turmoil over tariffs shrinks their 401(k)s

It will fall in about two years if the national debt is not addressed.

And NOT all of Trumps tariffs have been in place long enough to start effecting prices of goods we buy and when they do it will hurt a LOT of people , the people that have been working two jobs and working poor / the poor could be hurt the hardest and could lose everything they have.
It will only be a matter of a short time till Trumps tariffs will be felt.
Heck the price of wood has gone through the roof and the people that lost their houses in fires and Hurricanes are feeling it.
Some are questioning if they are going to be able to afford to rebuild or not, even with the insurance they have.

lol my portfolio is up over 20% this week. I manage my own; anybody who falls for those 401K scams is a fool to begin with, and most likely will get yet another giant Bush/Obama style govt. bailout, then afterwards whine about somebody getting food stamps and minimum wage n stuff. If they're losing money due to tariffs on slave labor produced goods then I'm glad they're losing money; they're part of the problem.

I disagree. The more who cry the better. The one chance of stopping this mayhem is if his supporters start deserting him.

IMO once Trump's Tariffs are all put in place and the price of EVERYTHING you buy goes up and it hits them in the pocketbook a LOT of them will be crying.
As I said they got what they wanted so now when it comes back and bites them they MIGHT wake up, I don't think so till it really hits them.

I am and have been involved in a lot of " special activities " most of them helping my fellow VETs.
Who are now starting to feel the repercussions of Trumps cuts to the VA.

That's great... I'm not seeing any repercussion right to the VA .. The neighbor across the street is an administrator at our Local hospital just a few miles away... I asked her to please keep me posted. Occasionally there are a few protesters and they just invite them in to see if they want to volunteer.... There are always ways for community members to contribute ...This is also autism awareness month....There is a lot going on... Many things
to keep busy with...

Well my daughter was the head of women's affairs at a large VA hospital in the area , and got a promotion last fall ( before Trump ) and she has told me they have had cuts come down that ARE hurting our VETS and it could get worse if the cuts keep coming.
The VA hospital here has had to cut services.

Another thing I have an autistic son and we have been involved with Autism awareness month for years now.
Back when he was diagnosed with it the rate was 1 in 27000 kids and now with awareness increasing it is now something like 1 in 35 Kids have it. ( not sure of the exact number but it has gone way way up )

I'm curious what you are invested in that gained 20% last week. It wasn't gold since that was down for the week. It certainly wasn't any stocks. Did you short the market? Even then you wouldn't have made 20% gains since the market indices were only down 6-10% for the week.

I'm sorry to hear that...it's status quo here... I think once the reorganization is done.... It will be in the best interests of everyone. I can't imagine Essential services being cut... If that is the case I hope they're working to restore them....

Well IF you don't have the money , and they don't , Essential services may not get restored and Vets will suffer.
