Bloodied Trump Fan Pulls AR-Style Rifle in Self Defense at Anti-MAGA Clash

The article uses the word "brandished."

bran·dish
[ˈbrandiSH]
verb
brandished (past tense) · brandished (past participle)
  1. wave or flourish (something, especially a weapon) as a threat or in anger or excitement:

He was holding a rifle. From what I could see, he didn't point it at anyone, wave it around, or even hold it in a manner that would make it a threat. The embedded X video shows him confronting the protesters when one of them headbutts him. That's assault as that headbutt resulted in the guy getting a bloody nose. Other protesters are pushing on him while he clearly has both hands in the air.

The protesters started shit with this guy, and it escallated. That he had a bloody nose tells me that he was assaulted by the protester that headbutted him.

If anyone is going to jail, it's that protester. Police according to the article--buried at the end of course--say he acted in self-defense.

This is a case of violent protesters causing a situation after assaulting someone.

In many states where the carrry permit requires it to be concealed out of sight 100% of the time, the mere glimpse of a firearm is called brandishing.
That said, this moron running around with rifle in hand should be arrested for brandishing at the minimum.

He got the rifle only after he was assaulted and physically injured by a protester. The police say he acted in self-defense. From what the videos show, it appears his attacker tried to flee the scene when he saw the rifle and the guy tried to keep him there until the police arrived.

I understand. I am in the firearms training business. There are usually many options available before you go to a long gun. As temptedd as I am to say this was OK, I need a LOT more information. Defense lawyers will question his intent just because the weapon was long gun and he got out of his vehicle to get it from the back seat. That tells me that he went there expecting trouble.
I didn't say it was illegal but his actions could result in him wishing he had stayed home.
From what I saw, his best move was to drive away and immediately call the cops.

Best advice for those who carry a gun. Be a gray man and make every effort to never put yourself in a position where you point a firearm towards another individual. If you cannot remove yourself from the scene and your life is clearly in danger, all bets are off.
