I'd have to see the poll, but 1) it's only been a couple of months and 2) 90% of 30% = 27% of American Republican voters support Trump. I doubt the 40% who are Independents are so supportive. If they were, wouldn't they become Republicans?

I think the reason Trump can get to 49 percent of the popular vote is that virtually all Republicans, and a large amount of socially conservative independents are voting for him.

Believe me, I wish there were more Jeff Flake and Lisa Murkowski Republicans out there, but they seem to be going extinct.

Of the non-MAGAt voters, most Trump voters voted for Trump based upon his promises to fix the economy. While smart people knew the economy was getting better, many Americans are poorly educated and about half are on the backside of the IQ bell curve making them easily manipulated and, therefore, perfect Trump voters.
