Now Russia is sending oil to Cuba.

At least two U.S. Coast Guard cutters are actively patrolling off Cuba’s northeastern coast (between Moa and Puerto Padre), explicitly “in position to intercept ships if ordered.”

The Trump administration has issued a directive to “prevent oil from entering Cuba.”

Precedents exist: the U.S. has already seized at least nine vessels involved in illicit fuel deliveries to Cuba. The Sea Horse (Hong Kong-flagged, ~190,000–200,000 barrels Russian diesel) is now ~5 days out and moving at 9.9 knots; the Anatoly Kolodkin (Russian-flagged, ~700,000–730,000 barrels Urals crude, already U.S.-sanctioned since 2024) is expected in early April. Both are using shadow-fleet tactics (AIS spoofing, “not under command” broadcasts, ship-to-ship transfers).

The U.S. can board/seize them in international waters near Cuba under sanctions enforcement authority.

About Cuba. Politics and location also play a part in your economic system. You cannot divorce them. When the USSR existed and Cuba was the sole outpost in the west they got a lot of subsidies. Why? because they were very important to the USSR. That made their economic system work. As a consquence the US did not like them. That is a cost they incur for all the subsidies gotten from the USSR.

A smart government would have abandoned communism the moment the USSR fell because there would be no longer anyone giving you subsidies for it and aligned with the US.

Thuggery.

For several weeks the Cubans said no to the Russians, because they imagined that negotiating with the Americans is a serious idea.

They have been wised up.

They assassinate their enemies during negotiations, humans dont get worse then this, even the NAZIS were better.

Bend Over, this is going to hurt.
