Seems Smartmatic was smart to settle with Newsmax

“Smartmatic unsurprisingly chose to settle its case with Newsmax on the eve of trial after a series of major setbacks devastated its case,” the network said in a statement. “Those setbacks included: the fact that Smartmatic’s President and Co-Founder, as well as one current and one former executive, were federally indicted for bribery in obtaining key businesses in the Philippines; Smartmatic was forced to cut its damage claims from $1.7 billion to $370 million to avoid evidence of those indictments; and the Delaware Judge ruled that Smartmatic could not recover punitive damages. Smartmatic’s claims against Fox are similarly impaired, unsupported by the facts and intended to chill First Amendment freedoms.”

They took the money and scurried back under the refrigerator where cockroaches live.

Because they did make a mistake. It also said in the article that Smartmatic "...will not stop until the perpetrators are held accountable" so the real question is why did smartmatic take less and any did they settle at all?

If you read what you posted you might have learned they admitted they settled based on a reduced claim of a "mere" three hundred plus million dollars.

They paid $370MM for doing nothing wrong? You colossal idiot.
 
Fox will keep paying off for the lies that it told. They did damage to companies hurting their reputations and potentially damaging their business. Their lies were very specific back then. They named Dominium and Smartmatic as they lied about them. Much of the on-air taking heads were fired along with many in management. I believe OAN paid for the same thing.
Giuliani and Powell have personal suits to face for their lies about Dominion. It is not over yet.
