Anti-woke Republicans attacked Columbia University. It capitulated

We were shocked that President Shafik capitulated to its mendacious premises and failed to stand up for fundamental academic principles of honest intellectual inquiry and free expression. Most galling was the absence of any acknowledgment of the relentless devastation in Gaza: the urgent reason for the student protests that the committee caricatures and condemns as antisemitic.

"The role of a university is to teach students how to think critically and courageously. This means that students might feel unsettled when their world views differ from their peers’ or when what they discuss in class – or hear on campus – challenges their beliefs. University education involves learning to engage disagreement and even confrontation, and to contest ideas rather than seek to suppress them.

Clearly you never learned any of those skills. It really is funny to see you post this stuff. It's like you don't read it or can't internalize it. You rarely engage with disagreement .in any meaningful way and yet have the nerve to post this. It's almost as if you post it because you're told to post it.

Police Arresting Pro-Palestinian Protesters at Columbia

The police moved Thursday afternoon to quell a protest at Columbia University, arresting dozens of demonstrators who had constructed a vast encampment on campus. The arrests came the day after university leaders pledged to Congress that they would crack down on unauthorized student protests tied to the war in Gaza.

Officers, clad in riot gear and prepared with zip ties, began taking protesters into custody just before 1:30 p.m. amid dozens of tents and scores of demonstrators gathered in front of Butler Library. “Since you have refused to disperse, you will now be placed under arrest for trespassing,” a man repeatedly called through a loudspeaker. “If you resist arrest, you may face additional charges.”

About 20 police officers in riot gear just stepped onto Amsterdam Avenue and are watching a small group of protesters chanting. Some officers are holding batons in their hands. “The people, united, will never be defeated,” the protesters chant.

The group of protesters on West 114th Street is larger now, with another group joining from campus.

President Biden's obsessive support for Israel could cost him the election. Dangerous move.
