Atheists more generous than religious when helping others: study

According to atheists?

"Researchers examined three experiments tying generosity with compassionate behavior. That included analyzing data from a 2004 national survey of more than 1,300 Americans. That report found that those who were less religious were motivated more to help others, such as giving food or money to the homeless."

By "survey", she means "poll", so they supposedly asked 1,300 "Americans" about their own giving habits, and the self-proclaimed atheists boasted about their generosity?

No way you could ever tell this even if you somehow went person to person. Why?

Matthew 6:2,3,4
So when you give to the needy, do not sound a trumpet before you, as the hypocrites do in the synagogues and on the streets, to be praised by men. Truly I tell you, they already have their full reward. But when you give to the needy, do not let your left hand know what your right hand is doing, so that your giving may be in secret. And your Father, who sees what is done in secret, will reward you.

Judging by bogus generalzations is lame.

This metric overvalued giving a bum $5 and undervalued giving a church 10% of your income.

There is no information provided regarding the methodology, so, I am inclined to call BS on this "survey" and the "experiments" that supposedly "suggested" that atheists are more generous than other people.

Its what they have to do to get the result they want.
