House Democrats grilled Betsy DeVos Tuesday over the education secretary’s latest budget proposal, which boosts appropriations for charter schools while slashing $17.6 million in funding for the Special Olympics.

During a contentious hearing before the House education appropriations subcommittee, Rep. Mark Pocan, D-Wis., pushed DeVos on the proposed cuts to the Special Olympics, a sports competition for disabled athletes.

“Do you know how many kids are going to be affected by that cut, Madam Secretary?” Pocan asked.

“Mr. Pocan, let me just say again, we had to make some difficult decisions with this budget —” DeVos replied.

“Again, this is a question about many kids, not about the budget —” Pocan interjected.

I am not a fan of the Olympic Games, or Secretary Betsy DeVos, but she is right for two reasons:

1. Taxpayers should not contribute to the Olympics at all.

2. Challenging the Democrat Party’s grip on Olympic tax dollars.

DeVos taking grief from the Democrats is moot. Trump rolled over:

Trump loves to rale against the media, but he turns yellow when he knows media mouths —— and RINO —— will crucify him if he threatens funding parasites of any kind. In this case the Olympic Games.

Let me go to the heart of the matter.

In 2009 most Americans were relieved when the 2016 Olympics went to Rio de Janeiro. Obama’s failure to get the Olympic Games for Chicago was his greatest accomplishment. He proved that Americans would just as soon not be ripped off by international crooks.

The slap to Chicago was such that some IOC members were left squirming. The city's plans for Olympic competition along its stunning Lake Michigan waterfront had long made it a front-runner and earned support from the highest possible level -- Obama himself. First lady Michelle Obama flew in two days before the vote to butter up IOC members, an essential part of the selection process. And Obama himself flew in Friday morning.

IOC members had seemed wowed, posing for photos with Mrs. Obama and taking souvenir shots of the president with their mobile phones. But, in the vote, Chicago was shunned.

The Chicagoans interviewed on TV at the time were rooting for Rio.

The collective intelligence of Illinois voters is laughable because they gave us the Chicago sewer rat, while Chicagoans were too smart to punish themselves with that fraud known as the Olympic Games. They knew that Olympic sharpshooters ride into town on tax dollars, scoop up the money, then ride off into the sunset leaving the local suckers to pay the bills.

Cleanup costs is the tip of the iceberg. Building stadiums, etc., includes federal funding in the billions. Security alone exceeds one billion federal tax dollars.

A combination of state, local, or federal, taxpayers build the facilities. Promoters sell the tickets, sell endorsements, and hire backhoes to pick up the money from concessions and so on. The promoters, sometimes called the Olympic Committee, have no out of pocket expenses going in.

Taxpayers funding the Olympic Games is no different than taxpayers building tents for a circus; the hustlers make the money then skip town leaving the suckers to clean up the elephant shit.

Tax dollar funding for sporting events cannot be called capitalism by any stretch of the imagination. Sporting events should survive on the profits from tickets their customers buy. When the government forces everyone to build a stadium, or an Olympic city, that is big ticket nanny state economics. There is not a whit of difference between forcing Americans to pay for the Olympic Games, and forcing them to fund a political cause they disagree with?

Incidentally, the former Soviet Union contributed to today’s tax dollar scam. Decades ago the complaint was that the Soviet Union’s Olympic athletes were professionals because the government paid, trained and housed them. Our parasites decided to compete against the Soviets by funding our athletes through the good old tax deduction for corporations and so on.

This was good news of a sort:

The Olympic Games is always bad news because NBC pays the hustlers with tax deductible advertising dollars. In short: Hundreds of million of Americans do not watch the Olympic Games, but they pay to broadcast the fraud.

And let us not forget Jimmy Peanuts who boycotted the Olympics in 1980 to protest The Soviet Union’s war in Afghanistan.

http://www.history.com/this-day-in-history/carter-announces-olympic-boycott

Jimmy’s motive was solid, while most Americans were as pleased as punch when the saw the Olympic Games take a big hit.

More recently the democracy crowd was in hog heaven when the Olympic Games went to North Korea. They wasted no time telling us the Olympics Games promote democracy. If that is true everyone making a buck off the Olympic Games should be locked up for life.

President Trump had more reason to boycott the Olympics in South Korea than President Carter had in 1980. My point. Trump is the only president that found a way to look worse than Jimmy Carter.

then it was the wrong question.....it ought to be about the budget.........every budget cut effects people......but we still need budget cuts.......

To guno:
Asshole:

In June 2001, the International Olympic Committee (IOC) and the International Paralympic Committee (IPC) signed an agreement that would ensure that the staging of the Paralympic Games is automatically included in the bid for the Olympic Games.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/International_Paralympic_Committee

Sporting events should survive on the profits from tickets their customers buy.

In addition to receiving federal tax dollars, donations from the private sector are tax deductible:

Tax deductibility code: 501(c)(3)

As in every unconstitutional expenditure of tax dollars the tax deductions are passed onto the backs of taxpayers who disagree with the political motive. Bottom line: Irrespective of where the money originates charity hustling parasites benefit a lot more than do Special Olympics athletes:

“Let me just say that I think Special Olympics is an awesome organization, one that is well supported by the philanthropic sector as well,” DeVos said.

Heywood was right about an ill wind. Television parasites losing billions in advertising revenues from the Tokyo games is a major storm.

RUSH: Folks, this coronavirus thing, I want to try to put this in perspective for you. It looks like the coronavirus is being weaponized as yet another element to bring down Donald Trump. Now, I want to tell you the truth about the coronavirus. (interruption) You think I’m wrong about this? You think I’m missing it by saying that’s… (interruption) Yeah, I’m dead right on this. The coronavirus is the common cold, folks.

Heywood was wrong about an ill wind. Cancelling the Olympic Games because of the common cold is a gentle Summer breeze:

Incidentally, talking heads are already making billions filling up air time with a scare tactic. That certainly qualifies as an ill wind blowing some good for parasites.

I agree with you that Obama was mentally disabled based on his remark that his 129 bowling average was "like the Special Olympics or something".
