Canis Lupus

Mott the Hoople

Sweet Jane
I was watching some dog fighting videos. Pretty sick and repugnant shit. I don't think anyone who knows anything about dog fighting would argue that no breed of dogs compare to American Pitt Bull Terriors and Japanese Tosa's in fighting.

Now you would think that with their greater strength, power, stamina and viciousness that a APBT or a Tosa could handle a Gray Wolf. I mean APBT's can hand a Bull Mastiff or Kanga its ass and they're several times the size of an APBT.

Not so. The gray wolf would consistently kill a APBT. They are surprisingly more agile than a APBT and they have a more powerful bite than any dog. They just maneuver around till they get an APBT by the head and it's over with.

Score one for canis lupus.

Honestly, I don't know how anyone can watch dog fights. That said, are you telling me that White Fang was all a lie? I thought the Pits excelled because they grabbed by the throat, and didn't let go? I also thought they produce more PSI than any other dog with their bite?

White fang was a hybrid wolf dog. Neither is correct about Pits. Quite a few dogs have more powerful bites and are stronger. APBT stand out for a combination of strength, agility, endurance but viciousness is their top characteristic. They fight to kill and don't give up. They have been known to fight for as long as five hours where most fighting dogs are exhausted after 30 minutes. They will keep on fighting even when mortally wounded. Wolves, on the other hand are incredible agile, strong with impressive endurance but they have a more powerful bite than any dog. Which is a big reason
Why they will most times kill a dog.

The odd thing is that they're a much maligned dog. They actually make excellent pets If socialized properly. Some fighting breeds are too aggressive to trust as pets. Though it's still a fighting dog and should be kept away from other dogs and animals.

APBT are kinda like the stupid NRA slogan "Guns don't kill people. People do.". Well that's true but some nut job intent on killing is probably going to more efficient killing if he has a gun than without.

Same with a APBT. You've never heard of anyone being killed by a Pomeranian. So same thing with an APBT. Some maladjusted gangbanger or hillbilly with a APBT that isn't properly trained and socialized can be a menace. Just like guns APBT's are dangerous unless managed and handled properly and safely.

We had a wolf hybrid, many years ago.
Best pet we ever had.
Extremely smart, loyal to a fault, was really protective of the kids, and used to let the kittens play on him.
But then, we let him know that my wife and I were the "alpha" figures, the kids were next, and he was at the bottom of the 'pack'.
Standing on his hind legs, with his forepaws on my shoulders, he was well over 6 ft in length and at his prime he weighed in at 158 lbs.
I used to go down to the local slaughter house and they would give me the knuckle bones off of a cows leg.
I would give it to him and he would turn it over and over in his mouth, until he had it just right, and then you could hear the bone crack.
He would eat every bit of that bone.

I miss him.

Man, no wonder a wolf will kill a dog. An APBT can bite with an average force of around 240 psi. A Rottweiler around 320. An average wolf can bite on average around 400 psi and a large wolf can bite with a max force of 1200 psi.
