So much for change coming to Washington folks. Looks like the Obama administration is bring a combination of Chicago thug politics, the third term of Bill Clinton, and never ending scandals to the nation


A donor's gift soon followed Clinton's help


WASHINGTON: A developer in New York state donated $100,000 to former President Bill Clinton's foundation in November 2004, around the same time that Senator Hillary Rodham Clinton helped secure millions of dollars in federal assistance for the businessman's mall project.

Hillary Clinton helped enact legislation allowing the developer, Robert Congel, to use tax-exempt bonds to help finance the construction of the Destiny USA entertainment and shopping complex, an expansion of the Carousel Center in Syracuse.

She also helped secure a provision in a highway bill that set aside $5 million for Destiny USA roadway construction.

The bill with the tax-free bonds provision became law in October 2004, weeks before the donation, and the highway bill with the set-aside became law in August 2005, about nine months after the donation.

Congel and Philippe Reines, a spokesman for Hillary Clinton, both said there was no connection between his donation and her legislative work on his project's behalf. Reines said the senator had supported the expansion of Carousel mall "purely as part of her unwavering commitment to improving upstate New York's struggling economy, and nothing more."

They need to enact sarbains like rules on politicians. if a member of your staff is responsible for something then you are responsible for it. No more scapegoats.

Right now the US Senate is saying they will not seat Mr Burris to repleace Obama since his appointment is "tainted"

Will they refuse to confirm Hillary since it looks like she has the same problem - pay to play syndrome?

That would be fascinating. But there is a difference. The measure of Burris' power in the Democratic party can be calculated by my five year old daughter, the measure of the Clinton's power in the party would be difficult for a math major to calculate...

Maybe this is how Obama planed to sink Hillary all along. Have the Senate hold a confirmation hearing. This could be the first time that she has had to actually answer questions. :cof1:

They do not want to end up taking a midnight trip to Ft Marcy Park like Vince Foster did

No doubt, but there will be some Republicans on the panel, and she'll have to answer their questions in the full glory of C-Span and Youtube. :)

Senate leaders can ask for the cameras to be turned off at any time. Dems have done it before - and they will do it when it keeps their secrets secret

and when the Dems do not like what the Republicans are saying. I know Pelosi turned off the lights, the cameras, and called the cops when Republicans kept talking about the off shore drilling bill and wanted to keep the debate going in the House
