Conservative or Republican?

A confusing thing for many lately I think.

The 2 used to be pretty much the same 30 years ago.
But now we have spendthrift Republicans.
conservative Demoncrats.
Corportate socialist Dems and Repubs.
Social conservatives...

I keep hearing Bush is no conservative from those who voted for him twice.
But I am not convinced that they would not have voted for Bush again if they could.

Ideals or Party first? Which is it with Republicans?

Dems seem to be more diverse. Ie several of us hacking on Reid on here. Not many republicans would have hacked on one of theirs in a leadership position.

Of course politically speaking that diversity is a weakness to be exploited by the other party. However I think it is individial gains that add up to strength.
 
What the party gatekeepers won't talk about:

Democrats will not talk about things in terms of market forces. Republicans will not admit that market forces are sculpted by the legislation of corrupted fascists.
 
I would not have voted for Bush the third time around. I would have done just as I did. I would have voted third party. I would not have voted for him the second time if I was not convinced that a third party vote was a wasted vote and if Kerry didn't scare the hell out of me.

Hindsight is 20/20 but I'm not certain who could have been worse, Kerry or Bush. We were screwed either way with Obama or McCain. We were screwed with either Kerry or Bush.

My guess is that as long as we allow the two parties to rule our country, we will be screwed.
