Consider The Source

What does "consider the source" mean? It means to be informed and be wary of the source.

"The Boy Who Cried Wolf" is a perfect example. The boy had lied so many times about the wolf that the village is forced to consider the source. Was the boy telling the truth at the end? What if he took pictures of the wolf? Would people listen to him this time?

When a person doubt a source BASED ON HISTORY, it is not genetic fallacy. It's being WARY.

Any source can be factual or not. The history is what erodes their reputation.

Tip: Remember that considering the source is often a useful heuristic in quickly assessing if the claim is probably true or not, but dismissing the claim or accepting it as true based on the source is fallacious.

This, sirs and ma'ams, is what is called "considering the source".

An information being assumed to be true or false based on the source's history is a fallacy itself.
Being wary of an information based on the source's history is not a fallacy.
