"Crocodile Tears” of the World

Guno צְבִי

We fight, We win
This talk took place in the winter of 1969, as the UN was rocked by stormy debates about whether Israel had the right to retaliate against terrorists infiltrating from Jordan.

The Rebbe, who held that Israel must never outsource its decision making to other nations, including its greatest allies, did his best to explain to Israel’s leaders just how futile such an effort would be.

Through the crocodile tears of so many other nations, the Jews will always be expected to “turn the other cheek.” Meanwhile, if we’re to listen to Torah’s straightforward instructions, we’d be in a very different place.

Turning the other cheek

is an actual thing in idle conversation, it appears,
but I've never been in a situation
where that seemed to be tactically intelligent.

Where on the "turn the other cheek" spectrum do air strikes fall? When civilians are targeted, does that increase the "turning of the other cheek" or decrease it?
