If you've started to wonder what the real costs of socialism are going to be, once the full program in these United States hits your wallet, take a look at the table. As you digest these mind-boggling figures, keep in mind that in spite of these astronomical tax rates, these countries are still not financing their social welfare programs exclusively from tax revenues! They are deeply mired in public debt of gargantuan proportions. Greece has reached the point where its debt is so huge it is in imminent danger of defaulting. That is the reason the European economic community has intervened to bail them out. If you're following the financial news, you know Spain and Portugal are right behind Greece .

The United States is now heading down the same path. The VAT tax in the table is the national sales tax that Europeans pay. Stay tuned because that is exactly what you can expect to see the administration proposing after the fall elections. The initial percentage in the United States isnt going to be anywhere near the outrageous numbers you now see in Europe . Guess what, the current outrageous numbers in Europe didnt start out as outrageous either. They started out as minisculeright around the 1% or 2% where they will start out in the United States . Magically however, they ran up over the years to where they are now. Expect the same thing here.

It is the notion that with hard work and perseverance, anybody can get ahead economically here. Do you think that can ever happen with tax rates between 60% and 80%? Think again. With the government taking that percentage of your money, your life will be exactly like life in Europe . You will never be able to buy a home. You will never buy a car. You will never send your children to college. Lets not shuffle the battle cry of the socialists under the rug either. Its always the same cry. Equalize income. Spread the wealth to the poor (whoever they are). Level the economic playing field. Accomplish that and everything will be rosy.

Its time to take a really hard look at reality. Greece is a perfect example. Despite the socialism system that has ruled this country for decades, with a 65% tax rate, they are drowning in public debt, would have defaulted without hundreds of billions in bailout money, and still. .. 20% of their population lives in poverty. What has all that socialism money bought, besides ultimate power for the politicians running the show? Do you think these people are "free"? They're not. They are slaves to their economic "system."

This is where we are going unless we throw some of the present politicians out of Congress. Instead of spreading the wealth around, spread this message around.

It might wake up some people.

The reality is, government never stops growing and politicians never, ever have enough money to pay for it. Where does it end?

Britain is preparing for major surgery now, planning to lay off 500,000 government workers. France is taking baby steps, just raised the retirement age.

that's a great table, but I was already sold on the tea party or repubs when I read $58,000 would get you food stamps in Hawaii. I was totally ignorant on the topic, I would have guessed $20,000. WTF!!!

Now for probably the first and only time were in agreement. I oppose any regressive VAT tax or any other flat tax scheme like the VAT Tax.

Actually we are not. A flat VAT tax instead of a progressive income tax would be beneficial to the US, since it would eliminate politicians' ability to use the tax system for social engineering. But you like social engineering, don't you?

I could think of no more unjust, unfair and damaging to our nation idea then this idiotic notion of a regressive flat tax. We have all ready funneled 90% of our wealth into the hands of 10% of the population and the only sure way to put 99% of the wealth into 1% of the population is some lame flat tax notion. The flat tax idea is about as stupid as they come. As for social engineering. Since when is having a level playing field social engineering? You're just trying to justify and rationalize your greed. You can't have it all you hypocrite. You just want to have your cake and eat it too. You want all the government services that benefit you and oppose any services that benefit anyone but you. Now that's what I call social engineering!

Allow me to correct the impression given that everybody is taxed at 50%, it is just bullshit. That rate only applies to those earning more than £150,000. The 50% tax rate was only introduced by Gordon Brown in the dying days of his government, I seriously doubt anyone earning that amount pays that rate of tax as it is easily avoided.

The first £2440 is taxed at 10%, up to £37,400 at 20% and anything over at 40% up to £150,000

The last Labour government under Blair and Brown recruited over 800,000 extra staff in the public sector so there is room for pruning.

Your response is typical of retard liberals: the meaning of words is fluid to you, like water, and common sense is nonexistent. A flat tax by definition is flat, not regressive. Society doesn't "funnel" wealth to the rich- the rich earn it. Social engineering is you trying to punish folks for being successful, hoping that it will encourage poor folks to get off their asses and work for a living.

If there is any question why I call liberals retarded then your post has clarified it. :good4u:
