1990, USSC decides that the drunk driving situation is SO BAD, that it is necessary to violate the 4th Amendment rights of citizens, especially because it's just a relatively minor violation. This has led to no refusal weekends where a citizen can be forced, even physically and violently if necessary, to have blood drawn to determine sobriety and still not violate the 4th Amendment.
Todays drug war has no knock warrants, dogs and people being murdered by the government with no consequences at all, and people being sent to prison for an ungodly amount of years for simple possession of marijuana, yet in 2000 the USSC declared that drug checkpoints were unconstitutional violations of the 4th Amendment.
