drug checkpoints vs dui checkpoints

1990, USSC decides that the drunk driving situation is SO BAD, that it is necessary to violate the 4th Amendment rights of citizens, especially because it's just a relatively minor violation. This has led to no refusal weekends where a citizen can be forced, even physically and violently if necessary, to have blood drawn to determine sobriety and still not violate the 4th Amendment.

Todays drug war has no knock warrants, dogs and people being murdered by the government with no consequences at all, and people being sent to prison for an ungodly amount of years for simple possession of marijuana, yet in 2000 the USSC declared that drug checkpoints were unconstitutional violations of the 4th Amendment.

WTF???????????

is it any wonder why nobody has any clear idea on what the law is anymore?

I've always said, "If you want a drug war, you don't want any rights".

I here people complain about govt trashing their rights, but when you tell them "if you want to make drugs illegal, you don't want rights" they don't get it.

People have been so indoctrinated into this total and complete lie about just what rights are that they can't see that we've given the govt the right to dictate every aspect of our lives.

What the hell. The worse it gets, the worse we make it, the worse we make it, the worse it gets.

that is innacurate, the officers have to have probable cause for such action to occur, such as alcohol on the breath

the so called "war on drugs" is one of the largest violations of us citizen's rights since our founding. the powers that agencies such as the DEA have are mind boggling.

the war on drugs is an enormous disaster for our country. it has minimized the word "war", it has dehumanized hundreds, if not millions of citizens and their family members. there is no war, there are drugs and they will always be here, that said, those that sell or buy drugs are not in any war, they are simply buyers and sellers of a product.

i know most libertarians disagree with me, but, i have no problem with drugs like crank or coke or heroin being illegal. there is ample evidence that the benefit (if any) of those drugs are nothing compared to the harm those drugs cause society.

legalize marijuana and you put those manufactured drugs on the very far side lines.

the problem lies with the checkpoints. why are dui checkpoints constitutional, but drug checkpoints are not?

the way i understand it.....driving is not a privilege....now...drug points are not the same, unless they involve driving.

again, i'm telling you what i understand the law to be, not my opinion
