If passed ...will undermine Free Enterprise. The Government has no business dictating programming to Private Business. Since talk radio is dominated by Conservatives, This is just a sneaky way for the Democrats to silence their critics. It smells and will turn around and bite them in the ass. I believe Obama is smart enough to stay away from censorship.
When interviewed about this bill.. Chuck Shumer had a shit eating grin on his face... I swear if I was standing in front of him I would have been hard pressed not to punch his lights out.

Moronic idea's from the extreme right and the extreme left is what makes divided Government preferable.... I just hope this liberal mandate doesnt take us down Political Correctness Hell. But...we will have to wait and see... if Obama's cabinet is as political diverse as they say its going to be... then the idea's from Wakkoville will be shelved.
 
Talk radio and such has been the main reason for the extreme division and hatred in our country today. It needs to go away.

If you agree with censorship...then you are an asshole.... of the dangerous variety. How extreme will you get to make sure your Ideology remains in charge...?

Why are you so afraid of people like Limbaugh that you will allow your government to censor him? If you approve of this shit... you then are more dangerous than Limbaugh...

Yes, its a part of the problem. But its one of the problems that comes with a free society. If the listeners are so stupid as to believe anything they hear, then they could be led astray by newsletters, websites or any other means of getting the message across.

I don't agree with the Fairness Doctrine, but if passed it would censor Limbaugh or any of the other blowhards.
 
If the Fairness Doctrine passes, will Air America start carrying Rush?

Good point.. what happens if Limbaugh and Hannity pool their financial resources into the Internet and begin to dominate? The fairness Web doctrine?

I'll call a spade a spade... Censorship is what it is...

If you want to silence Limbaugh than have the balls to beat him at his own game. Dont experiment with censorship.

From what I understand about the bill (correct me if I am wrong) it requires equal time for both sides.

Is it going to be setup as a Conservative/Liberal equal time? If so, that seems a little vague.

If its setup for equal time for political parties, then they will need to have time for republicans, democrats, libertarians, greens, and whoever else claims to be a political party.

And I am not sure any of the talk shows claim affiliation with a particular party. They may BE conservative and therefore preach for the republicans, but its not an official affiliation. So how would they regulate it?

Private radio stations should not be told what to run. Often times conservative radio stations are conservative because of the demographics they cater to. The advertisers have their target groups as well. If liberal talk radio was going to be successful, then the radio stations would PICK IT UP. Not only is this completely against free enterprise, but it could HURT radio stations by forcing them to remove a POPULAR conservative talk show that would be getting more ratings than a liberal talk show, in the name of "fairnes"... which is absolute BULLSHIT.

The fact that this is also explicitly targeting talk radio is even more disgusting.

It as an attempt to regulate or mandate (manipulate) certain types (conservative) of speech on the airwaves.

So who gets to choose the panel that will decide whether or not a certain broadcast is too conservative or too liberal thus..the radio station must air an opposing view? The sitting Administration? This is such garbage... it is plain old Unamerican.

Well I dunno grind, if they wanted to be private, maybe they shouldn't be broadcasting over publicly owned airwaves?
