A man was arrested Sunday in the shooting death of former New Orleans Saints defensive end Will Smith, who helped the team win Super Bowl XLIV, its only championship.

Smith was shot after he was involved in a traffic collision with a Hummer H2 in New Orleans's Lower Garden District on Saturday night, police said. The driver of the Hummer and Smith "exchanged words at which time the driver of the Hummer produced a handgun" and shot Smith "multiple times," police said.

Smith's wife was also shot twice and transported to a local hospital.

The story is getting more complicated. Earlier that evening Smith and a former team mate met with a friend who was a NO cop that had shot and killed the shooters father in 2005 and who was named in a law suit that the shooter filed and won against the NO police dept.

A Dallas grand jury is scheduled to consider this week whether to charge troubled NFL quarterback Johnny Manziel with attacking his ex-girlfriend in a January incident.

Prosecutors will present the Manziel case to a grand jury Thursday, Brittany Dunn, a spokeswoman for the Dallas County district attorney, said Tuesday. The grand jury could announce an indictment as soon as Monday. Police originally presented a misdemeanor assault case to prosecutors. That charge carries a maximum punishment of one year in jail and a $4,000 fine.

Manziel, a former Cleveland Browns quarterback and Heisman Trophy winner at Texas A&M, is accused of hitting his ex-girlfriend Colleen Crowley so hard that she temporarily lost hearing in one ear.

Crowley requested and was granted a protective order against the 23-year-old quarterback that prevents him from seeing her for two years.

She says she and Manziel had a confrontation in a Dallas hotel room, which continued downstairs at the valet station. She said he forced her into a car and a valet ignored her pleas for help. The two drove to where her car was parked in front of a Dallas bar, she said in an affidavit. She accused Manziel of getting into the driver's seat and beginning to drive. She says when she tried to jump out of the car, Manziel stopped, dragged her back into the car and hit her.

Police said they have spoken to Crowley, interviewed several other witnesses and reviewed medical records. But they did not arrest Manziel, instead taking the unusual step of asking the district attorney's office to present the case to a grand jury.

Johnny Manziel has been indicted by a grand jury for misdemeanor assault with bodily injury.

The ruling comes as a result of an incident that occurred in January when Manziel allegedly struck his ex-girlfriend Colleen Crowley so hard that it ruptured her eardrum.

According to police reports, Crowley tried to jump out of their moving car, but Manziel stopped, dragged her back into the car and struck her. The Dallas Police Department decided to present evidence to a grand jury to see if they should pursue a misdemeanor case against Manziel instead of arresting him.

An Arizona high school student faces 70 criminal charges after a yearbook prank went horribly wrong.

Hunter Osborn, 19, of Mesa, is accused of exposing his penis in a football team photograph that was printed in his school's yearbook, KPHO in Phoenix reported.

Osborn was arrested and charged with 69 counts of indecent exposure, a Class 1 misdemeanor, and one count of furnishing harmful items to minors, a Class 4 felony.

Mesa police Det. Steve Berry explained the dozens of charges stem for the number of students, ages 15 to 19, who were present at the time the photograph was taken.

"It is still an ongoing investigation," Berry said. "The number of charges may go up or down depending upon how the investigation continues."

The traditional team photo appeared in the school's yearbook, which was sent to 3,400 students, and in the school's football program.

Police say that Osborn was dared to expose himself.

Prosecutors say Dana Stubblefield faces five felony counts and a 'substantial prison sentence.'

SAN JOSE, Calif. -- Former San Francisco 49er Dana Stubblefield was charged Monday with the rape of a "developmentally delayed" woman, prosecutors announced.

The Santa Clara County District Attorney's Office said Stubblefield, a former defensive lineman for the San Francisco 49ers and Oakland Raiders, allegedly assaulted the woman on April 9, 2015, at his Morgan Hill home after interviewing her for a baby-sitting job. He is charged with five felony counts and faces a "substantial prison sentence" if convicted.

A day before the assault, Stubblefield contacted the then 31-year-old woman on a baby-sitting website and arranged an interview, prosecutors said.

"This was a crime of violence against a vulnerable victim," Deputy District Attorney Tim McInerny said. "She was looking for a job, and she was unconscionably assaulted."

Bail for Stubblefield, 45, is set at $250,000. His arraignment is scheduled to take place within 24 hours.

According to a report by the Morgan Hill Police Department, the interview of the woman by Stubblefield lasted about 20 minutes. She later received a text from Stubblefield saying he wanted to pay her for her time that day, and she went back to the house, the San Jose Mercury News reported.

After raping her, Stubblefield gave her $80 and let her go. The woman immediately went to the Morgan Hill Police Department and reported the rape. DNA evidence matched that of Stubblefield, the report said.

Stubblefield's attorney, Gary Winuk, said the sex was consensual and that his client is being unfairly targeted because of his wealth and celebrity.

Stubblefield provided prosecutors with lie-detector results and with evidence that shows the sexual encounter last year was consensual, including proof that the woman asked his client for a job and money afterward, said attorney Ken Rosenfeld, who is also representing Stubblefield.

"Dana Stubblefield is being unfairly targeted due to his celebrity and wealth by someone with full motivation to lie," Rosenfeld said. "Mr. Stubblefield passed a lie-detector test with flying colors and will present a full, vigorous defense against these false allegations."

Marco Rubio Proposes Tim Tebow Statue At The U.S. Capitol

The Florida senator says he would replace the current statue of a Confederate general with a tribute to the former Florida Gator.

Confederate General Edmund Kirby Smith, a native Floridian who has represented the Sunshine State in the U.S. Capitol’s National Statuary Hall for years, will soon be replaced.

Sen. Marco Rubio (R-Fla.) tweeted a suggestion for Smith’s replacement: Tim Tebow.

Tebow was a Florida Gators quarterback from 2006 to 2009 before moving on to the NFL. He led the Gators to two BCS National Championships and won the Heisman Trophy in 2007. He’s now a college football analyst for the SEC Network, which is owned by ESPN.

During his time with the Denver Broncos, Tebow became a household name for his signature prayer pose, known as “Tebowing.”

Perhaps this is how Rubio would like to see the football player immortalized in stone at the Capitol for years to come.

Shamed ex-Sunderland footballer Adam Johnson has reportedly started up a football team from behind bars.

It is claimed the team will be made up of other sex offenders and will be regularly trained by the pedophile footballer who earned £60,000 a week while playing in the Premier League.

Johnson is serving time in Category C Moorland Prison, South Yorkshire and reportedly wants the side to wear the Sunderland strip when they play.

The prison is fully equipped with a football pitch and other sporting equipment.

A source told the Star: “ Johnson is delighted to be playing football again.

The ex-England international was jailed for six years after admitting grooming and sexual activity with a 15-year-old girl and being found guilty of a further count sexual activity with a child.

In court Judge Jonathan Rose told Johnson that the fall from grace was “entirely his fault” as he sentenced him to a total of six years in prison.

The Wayne County Medical Examiner’s office has announced that former Colts running back Zurlon Tipton died in Michigan after accidentally shooting himself at the age of 26.

FOX2 in Detroit reports, via Roseville police, that Tipton pulled into a car dealership on Tuesday morning and removed a duffel bag from his trunk. The bag had two guns inside and police say that one of them went off, with the bullet striking Tipton in the stomach.

Tipton, who was arrested on a gun charge last December, played 16 games for the Colts over the last two years after making the team as an undrafted free agent out of Central Michigan in 2014. Tipton was waived near the end of last season and was not on any NFL roster this off-season.

Alabama offensive lineman Alphonse Taylor was arrested and charged with driving under the influence on Sunday, according to records from the Tuscaloosa County Sheriff's Department website.

Taylor is the third Alabama player arrested this offseason. Left tackle Cam Robinson and defensive back Hootie Jones were arrested in mid-May on drug and weapons charges in their hometown of Monroe, Louisiana, but the district attorney declined to prosecute, citing insufficient evidence.

Coach Nick Saban told reporters at SEC media days that Robinson, an All-SEC left tackle, and Jones faced internal discipline but would have a chance to play in the season opener against USC.

The Philadelphia District Attorney's office will not file charges against Nelson Agholor after conducting an investigation into an alleged sexual assault case involving the Eagles wide receiver.

The DA's office announced its decision Monday, saying in a statement that it "lacked sufficient evidence" to charge Agholor.

"The District Attorney's Family Violence and Sexual Assault Unit and detectives from the Philadelphia Police Department's Special Victims Unit thoroughly investigated the allegations of sexual assault against Nelson Agholor," the statement said.

"As a result of this joint investigation, our staff and the Police reached the conclusion that we lacked sufficient evidence to bring charges against Mr. Agholor, therefore no charges will be filed."

A dancer at Cheerleaders, a South Philadelphia strip club, accused Agholor of sexual assault in June. Agholor and teammates Fletcher Cox and Connor Barwin were in the club shortly after the final practice of the Eagles' offseason minicamp.

Cox and Barwin released statements saying they were at Cheerleaders but left before the alleged incident occurred.

Police turned the investigation over to the DA's office three weeks ago. Agholor's Philadelphia-based attorney, Fortunato Perri Jr., reiterated to ESPN's John Barr that the second-year receiver "didn't commit a crime."

"I applaud the detectives in the Special Victims unit as well as the District Attorney's office for conducting a full and exhaustive investigation into the allegations," Perri told Barr. "We said from the outset that Nelson didn't commit a crime and the result of the investigation now confirms the same conclusion."

Agholor, 23, was the Eagles' first-round draft choice in 2015.

Former Texas A&M All-American linebacker Antonio Armstrong and his wife, Dawn, were shot and killed in their Houston home.

Their 16-year-old son has been charged with capital murder in the deaths, the Harris County District Attorney's Office told KPRC in Houston.

Officers discovered the wounded couple at approximately 2 a.m. Dawn Armstrong died at the scene, and Antonio Armstrong was pronounced dead hours later with a gunshot wound to the head.

Antonio Armstrong was a letterman who played for the Aggies from 1991 to 1994. In a statement Friday, Texas A&M described him as a cornerstone of the "Wrecking Crew" defense. He was named a semifinalist for the Butkus Award as a senior after leading the Southwestern Conference in quarterback sacks and tackles for loss, and was named a first-team Associated Press All-America linebacker in 1994.

Armstrong was selected in the sixth round of the 1995 NFL draft by the San Francisco 49ers. An ankle fracture in training camp led to his release that October. He then signed with the Miami Dolphins and played in four games that season, logging four solo tackles.
