Most people are of the mind that HE WOULD.
The way he'd possibly/probably get away with it, is basically the same way I mentioned in an earlier thread....
Plan and order the assassination in DC where there are few if any non-Federal charges brought.
And of course with hand picked loyalists in key positions (Trump SOP) he'd have a guarantee that anything he did would only be dealt with at the Fed level by his cronies.
If charges were filed as a formality and done for appearances sake only, he'd simply pardon himself.
Political backlash?
Within his conservative support base, THERE WOULD BE NONE. HIS LOWLIFE SCUMBAG SUPPORTERS INCLUDING THE RIGHT-WING TRASH HERE AT JPP, WOULD CHEER FOR HIM.
Outside his base, it wouldn't matter because he'd either be term limited after a second term anyway, or even more scary, with enough GOP support and the right key appointees, one could imagine a situation where he figures out a way to appoint himself President for life.
