Franklin Graham has lashed out at Pope Francis for “trivialising Christ’s sacrifice”

Pope Francis suggested in a documentary that premiered on Wednesday (October 21) that gay people “have a right to be part of the family” and threw his support behind “civil union law” so same-sex relationships can be “legally covered”.

Evangelical preacher Franklin Graham has lashed out at Pope Francis for “trivialising Christ’s sacrifice” by “normalising homosexuality”.

The comments made global headlines and represented a major break from traditional Catholic teaching.

And it’s safe to say that Franklin Graham is not impressed.

In a lengthy Facebook post on Thursday (October 22), Graham hit out at Pope Francis, branding his comments “unthinkable in light of the Word of God”.

Graham went on to reference the Old Testament in his efforts to prove that the family is composed of a “male husband and a female wife” and a number of children.

The right-wing preacher suggested that the love of God is “completely inclusive”, but went on to claim that people must “repent” in order for society to be “saved”.

Franklin Graham hit out at Pope Francis for ‘trivialising Christ’s sacrifice’.
“For Pope Francis to attempt to normalise homosexuality is to say that Holy Scriptures are false, that our sins really don’t matter, and that we can continue living in them,” Graham wrote.

“If that were true, then Jesus Christ’s death, burial, and resurrection wouldn’t have been needed. The cross would have been for nothing. No one has the right or the authority to trivialise Christ’s sacrifice on our behalf.”

Graham continued: “I want everyone to know the truth and to find the peace that come sonly from fully surrendering our lives to Him and His commands.

“The consequence of an unrepentant, unbelieving heart is also clear in the Word of God – eternal death.

“Unless we repent and receive His offer of forgiveness, surrendering our lives to Him, we will spend eternity as part of a different family when we leave this earth – the family of the condemned.”

Yes. So true.
Unfortunately, many of our friends here that enjoy butt-fucking each other will spend Eternity in the Fires of Hell.
And ... why are most of these people Trump supporters? That's what I can't figure.

What a blowhard. Sounds like he forgets himself as well as Christ in this rambling.

I dont want to hear from any POPE until after the vast corruption of the Vatican has been fixed, and they have reasonably atoned for all of the kids that they abused.

The Pope has no high ground to speak from.

Graham doesn't preach popular/cultural christianity like the Pope. He preaches Biblical Christianity.

You'll find the Bible being quoted on both sides of many debates. The same Bible was used to defend and attack slavery. Same with civil rights and anything else under the sun.

It's clear you missed the point.

Popular/cultural christianty misuses and misapplies the Bible while Biblical Christianity does not.

Popular/cultural christianity focuses on "being good" and thinking as long as you are, God doesn't really care about other things you do. Biblical Christianity believes that one can't be good enough to receive salvation that it comes from a choice to follow God.

Every Christian thinks they're a true Christian. They wouldn't be following their particular version of the religion if they thought otherwise.

Is Graham the next Haggard?

I find it troubling, not only on this issue but many in modern American culture: ppl like graham wish to do w/ the law, American law, that which they fail to do in the streets-compel them to do what he believes is God's will.......

His failure to compel them compels him to force them to comply=THE LAW.............

if two gay ppl or two freaks like his buddy falwell jr & his wife wish to engage in a civil union wtf business is it of his?? This is a civil union, nothing to do w/ him, his believes etc.. & yet he wishes to force his beliefs on "our" society, via our laws-that is not what Jesus came to do.... If he does not know that he should go sell cars or get a reality tv show..

So this deity creates humans with certain sexual preferences, then punishes them for acting on those preferences? He sounds like a sadistic monster. Good thing he doesn't exist. (And if he did exist, I'm not so sure that spending an eternity sucking his ego is any better than an eternity of hellfire.)
