There is a large patch of the pacific which creates a vortex. The ocean currents circulate in a large area above Hawiian islands which traps the flotsum floating in the ocean and circulates it forever. It is filled with human plastic waste which will last basically forever. Sea birds will scoop it off the ocean and there bellies are forever full of plastic making it so they can not feed and die.
Other sealife are also effected as well as human beings being found with the unbiodegradable products chemical by products in our systems every where they have tested humans.

it will last a long time after we stop dumping plastic, but not forever
