Way to go Taxanator! He wants a 1.5% "temporary" increase in the sales tax for only two and a half years for California. They balanced the budget less than a month ago and now claim an $11 billion deficit. The Bay Bridge had a "temporary" increase a few years back from $1 to $2 with a promise of returning to $1. Yeah right. It's now at $4 soon to be $5.

L.A. just passed a propostion which adds a 50 basis point sales tax increase as well. That means for those of us idiots who are in L.A. our sales tax of 10.25% ties Chicago for highest in the country. Yeah, right on!

California is one of the fastest growing states in the nation, far exceeding low tax states like Mississippi.
It is the richest who leave, those who are paying the taxes. While the bottom grows, the need for more money grows, but those who they try to tax more because they "progressively" tax leave, leaving them in a constant shortfall. Add to that a bad economy at the same time. Higher tax is not the solution. It will just make it so people buy less stuff.

This is another one of those claims that you should have some evidentiary support of before you make the claim. I'm calling bullshit. Got any data to support the claims that rich people are leaving California and that they are doing so because of taxation?

I like how one facetious comment can become a serious discussion so quickly.

A majority of people making over 250k a year voted for which candidate?

This "the rich are moving to avoid a 1% tax zomgzers" nonsense is annoying.

This is inane. You equate everything to this one little bit?

The reality is they are leaving because of the State taxes, this is just one more.

Read the report "Rich States, Poor States" written by Arthur Laffer and Stephen Moore.

Read "Das Kapital", written by Karl Marx.
Inane.

The report is a list of surveys and actual data showing where businesses are going. California isn't the only place with the problem, but it definitely effects their revenues.

California also relies heavily on rich people for its taxes and when capital gains took a major hit like this year that state really suffers.

Well, quit complaining.

Also, are we suddenly talking about California businesses leaving the state after you made an assertion about rich individuals leaving the state? Typical.
So, you think they don't leave with their business, or are you just pretending to be that foolish?

The status of Millionaires are published in the previous report that I "spoke" about, Rich States, Poor States...

The richest leave.
