Got to love Chavez

When you elect someone who is a fruitcake and a thug, don't be surprised at either: (a) when things go well, he'll act like a thug, and (b) when things start to go wrong, he'll start acting like a fruitcake.

We may see an American version of that soon, if Hillary becomes President. She's enough of a fruitcake to think that her big-government solutions will work, and enough of a thug to lower the boom on anyone who disagrees. What will happen when her cherished theories start falling flat, we don't yet know (aside from the universal response of blaming Republicans). But it won't be pretty.

ahh... I thought you meant those on this site. Yes, the wealthy elitist in Hollywood are certainly more in tune with their Dear leader Chavez.

because he is a socialist??? In case you haven't noticed, that is a big :nono:
for those who believe in a more capitalistic society. Not to mention the efforts of Chavez to promote himself dictator for life. To Chavez's credit he at least went along with the people when they denied him this ability. (granted he acquiesed only after his military leaders said they would not support him if he did not abide by the vote.)
 
Rarely do I agree with Pat Robertson's assessment of a situation, but regarding Chavez... the old man might be onto something. :)
 
The President for Life thing should offend anyone that believes in freedom. BUT, had the people of Venzuela accepted it should we do anything to correct it? Who are we to question the democratic process in another country. The man was elected to office by the people of Venezuela in a democratic election. So he gets to make some decisions for them. That is none of our business and IF you go into business in unstable countries you should figure that into the calcuations of doing business. I don't like the guy, and he is not going to be good for his people in the long run, but for the people to have elected him there former Government must have been fucking them over pretty good.
 
But many in this country see the election of any socialist in an american country as a threat to democracy in the whole region. Somehow the domino theory still holds water in some circles.

So it's okay with you I will return to freely criticizing would-be dictators and increasing economic restrictions.

There was no constitutional ammendment on the ballot to make him president for lfie.
