Governor Newsome asks other nations to only target Red States with tariffs

California Gov. Gavin Newsom said Friday he is pursuing agreements with other countries to ensure California is exempted from retaliatory tariffs stemming from President Trump's escalating trade war.

"Donald Trump's tariffs do not represent all Americans," Newsom said in a video message Friday.

California, whom he touted as "the tentpole of the U.S. economy," aims to maintain "stable trading relationships around the globe," he added.

Trump supporters are the ones who wanted a global trade war, it makes total sense that Red States should be targeted by other nations and shoulder the burden of foreign tariffs.
