So they're saying the govt won't run "day to day" operations? That means they WILL be running overarching goals and dictating the major decisions?

WTF?

This excuse is not good enough.

Please, Congress is already picking and choosing what dealerships will keep franchises even though they were planned for closure in the bankruptcy.

Selling off one of the few profitable lines, the Hummer. On and on... They're already deep into the day-to-day operations.

Yeah.

And I guess we're just supposed to throw away previous opposition we may have had to fascism and just accept this idiotic line?

Truly brazen.

Where is the debate? I mean besides here.

If a company repays its bailout funds, 61% of Americans say the government should not regulate the company’s executive pay and bonuses. A new Rasmussen Reports national telephone survey found that 31% disagree.

And there isn't much of the debate here, mostly it's apologists trying to find a good enough excuse that people will just trust them.

Regulating pay is a canard.

the real destruction is the death of free markets when the government has a stake in a company. Laws will favor it, inevitably. Only an idiot would try to compete with it. It is a defacto monopoly, and any other players agree to the government cartel rules, and are friends of government officials.

Is this the new false dichotomy?

R's believe officers of corps should keep their heinous bonuses of malfeasance in the case of a bailout and D's don't?

If government control is the rule of the day now, then of course then pay should be capped, just llike the rest of us deemed "non creative" and thus, worthy of commoditization and price controls, otherwise, the fascist system is truly operating for a new class, guaranteed by the machine of fascist statehood the ability to plunder the rest of the world and humanity for themselves.

Why the hell is congress involved in this? Isn't this supposed to be a bankruptcy court?

The last thing I would want is congress picking to close and open dealerships. They won't pick sensible options. Powerful congressman will simply allow dealerships in less powerful congressman's districts to be closed so that they can have more dealerships as pork for their constituents. There will be no rationality to the process.

Congress is involved because once a political entity "owns" a corporation it becomes a political tool. They make terrible business owners because of this.

Congresspeople are already talking about blocking the closure of "their" dealerships, West Virginia had a "promise" from Rockefeller to stop the closures in his state. In fact that promise came less than 48 hours of the Government takeover and the promise that they don't want to own the company and won't take part in those decisions...

You say you want a revolution
Well you know
We all want to change the world
You tell me that it's evolution
Well you know
We all want to change the world
But when you talk about destruction
Don't you know you can count me out
Don't you know it's gonna be alright
Alright Alright

You say you got a real solution
Well you know
We'd all love to see the plan
You ask me for a contribution
Well you know
We're doing what we can
But when you want money for people with minds that hate
All I can tell you is brother you have to wait
Don't you know it's gonna be alright
Alright Alright

You say you'll change the constitution
Well you know
We all want to change your head
You tell me it's the institution
Well you know
You better free your mind instead
But if you go carrying pictures of Chairman Mao
You ain't going to make it with anyone anyhow
Don't you know know it's gonna be alright
Alright Alright
