Homicides in DC were up 36% in 2023 – the most in 20 years

"WASHINGTON — The numbers are in and they're not good. The District of Columbia had more homicides in 2023 than in any other year in the last two decades.
In 2023, there were 274 lives lost in homicides in D.C. – a 36% increase from the previous year and a 20-year high."

DC ranks 5th in the nation in per capita homicides. :palm:

The numbers are actually great. Virtually all types of crimes are dropping drastically. Thanks for bringing up the topic and how Biden has done such a fantastic job of bring all types of crime rates throughout the country down

Violent crime is down and the US murder rate is plunging, FBI statistics show

Violent crime has dropped by more than 15% in the United States during the first three months of 2024, according to statistics released Monday by the FBI. The new numbers show violent crime from January to March dropped 15.2% compared to the same period in 2023, while murders fell 26.4% and reported rapes decreased by 25.7%. When compared to last year aggravated assaults decreased by 12.5%, according to the data, while robberies fell 17.8%.

The FBI altered the way they count crime so confusingly when Biden was installed by the intel agencies , that now 1/3 of law enforcement agencies did not even submit crime reports.

You are so gullible.

40 per 100,000 homicides in DC. I'm sure the parents of the victims are as happy as you are. :palm:

I see, when the facts say crime is down the fucking ignorant trump supporter simply claims it's not true. Like the assholes saying after trump was convicted of 34 felonies, "what was the crime?"

No, crime is down across the country.

Most people think the U.S. crime rate is rising. They're wrong.

Murder plummeted in the United States in 2023 at one of the fastest rates of decline ever recorded, Asher found, and every category of major crime except auto theft declined.

Violent crime is dropping fast in the U.S. — even if Americans don't believe it

"At some point in 2022 — at the end of 2022 or through 2023 — there was just a tipping point where violence started to fall and it just continued to fall". In cities big and small, from both coasts, violence has dropped.

Crime in America is down, rudely interfering with GOP narrative that it's out of control

Some inconvenient facts have come along that threaten to undermine the hard work we've put in convincing our beloved Republican voters their country is a wasteland ravaged by violent leftists. U.S. crime is down, but at least we're still scaring people

So you really don't know the FBI changed its reporting methods on Jan. 1, 2021 to make Brandon look better? ... and that 1/3 of law enforcement agencies did not submit reports?

Criminals in large Democratic cities are not prosecuted for crimes so the crime figures go down but crime is out of control all across America.

It is true that the FBI changed their reporting system in Jan 2021.

The problem is that that system fails to capture much of the crime that goes on in the US

One of the biggest reasons is many law enforcement agencies aren't on the FBI's new system while many others see the reporting requirements of it as costly and burdensome so they don't bother to input criminal reports into the system. The result has been that since 2021, crime is grossly under reported to the FBI system.

Of course its down when it's not reported. I would love to tell you how stupid you are but....you're so stupid.

Cities nationwide not reporting crime data to FBI

The New York City and Los Angeles police departments are among the 40% of law enforcement agencies nationwide not sharing their 2021 crime data with the FBI.

“Crime is on a lot of people’s minds, and it’s unfortunate that in 2021 we don’t have good crime data from across the country,” said data reporter Weihua Li.

Li is with The Marshall Project, a nonpartisan, nonprofit news organization that covers the country’s criminal justice system.

So you have to be an asshole to wonder exactly what crimes Trump was convicted of? Interesting.
