House Democrats move to accepting that Biden stays in race

No additional House Democrats publicly called on President Biden to abandon his reelection campaign after an all-member meeting on Tuesday morning, suggesting the ground may be subtly shifting toward acceptance that Biden will remain in the race.

Rep. Jerry Nadler (D-N.Y.) — who just two days ago privately called for Biden to leave the ticket — said that, while he still has concerns over Biden’s candidacy, those are now “beside the point.”

The media has been breathlessly attacking Biden. What about Trump?

Of course, the problem certainly is not just the New York Times, despite its agenda-setting influence. It’s also TV news, both network and cable. And, to a lesser extent, it’s other major US publications.

All of these disturbing elements – the Democrats’ dilemma, the media’s failures, and the cult-like, unquestioning support of Trump – could add up to one likelihood in November.

A win for Trump, and a terrible loss for democracy.
