how many legal weapons

are used to illegally threaten, injure or kill

does any body know?

semi-automatic weapons are generally legal and where they have been banned, said bans are being challenged

fully automatic weapons require a special permit available by federal law

if you are a licensed and certified supplier of weapons used in previous and current wars (including tanks and artillery), you may own warehouses of said fully functional war weapons for use in entertainment venues like television and movies

if you want to own a fully functional thompson submachine gun or browning automatic rifle (BAR) (fully automatic with straight clip and/or drum magazines) you can get them with fresh ammunition

it just takes enough money and patience (filling out the appropriate forms)

the mini-gun used in the movie Predator is a weapon that may be legally owned

people with large properties and the desire to do so, will be GIVEN fully automatic and up to date weapons for trial use - this includes live military ammo

in fact, if you are such a person, you can obtain any new device proposed or issued to the military designated as single person user - hey, somebody has to try this stuff out before we issue it to the troops or for use in field conditions

Best case for the weapons enthusiast is to go through the process of becoming a licensed weapons dealer (both state and federal) - how about a semi-automatic 50 caliber (magnum) rifle

or a 50 caliber magnum pistol (5 shot revolver) - i am not sure of this rumor, but the word on weapons circuit is that no one has fired more than three consecutive rounds using this weapon

then there is the 7mm magnum rifle with scope - an average skilled user can easily take down someone at up to 500 meters, a sniper can kill at up to 1000 meters (1 kilometer/.6 miles) (i fall in the average skilled user category) - the bullet is heavy enough that anything less than a 15 knot wind will not degrade accuracy

oh well
