ICE finds, arrests Haitian migrant who was released on $500 bond after being charged with raping child in MA​



Agents with U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement have located and arrested a Haitian immigrant who had previously been released on a $500 bond despite facing charges of raping a child in Massachusetts.


ICE had issued a detainer on the suspect, Cory Alvarez, but the local sheriff's office ignored it and released the 26-year-old on a low bail number. A detainer is a request by which authorities alert ICE about an individual they believe to be subject to deportation so they can take the individual into federal custody and deport that person.

Alvarez was arrested in a so-called sanctuary city and the detainer was therefore ignored.

ICE officers found Alvarez in Boston on Monday, law enforcement sources told Fox News Digital.

"As part of the Alvarez case, for months now, our office has repeatedly asked questions of state and federal officials about specifics of the CHNV process. We have received little to no answers. There is clearly a reason that the U.S. Department of Homeland Security has paused the issuance of travel authorizations for new CHNV beneficiaries while it undertakes a massive review of the process," ICE said in a statement.

Alvarez arrived in June under the parole process for Cubans, Haitians, Nicaraguans and Venezuelans (CHNV). The policy was first announced for Venezuelans in October 2022, which allowed a limited number to fly directly into the U.S. as long as they had not entered illegally, had a sponsor in the U.S. already and passed certain checks.

In January 2023, President Biden's administration announced the program was expanding to include Haitians, Nicaraguans and Cubans and that the program would allow up to 30,000 people per month into the U.S. It allows for migrants to receive work permits and a two-year authorization to live in the U.S. and was announced alongside an expansion of Title 42 expulsions to include those nationalities.

You guys do not understand how illogical you are. Yes if a bunch of people come here, some will commit crimes. The crime rate of immigrants is lower than existing Americans. Your "logic" would work if we were sending an equal number of Americans out of the country and replacing them with illegals. (maybe) The point is Americans BELONG in America. Illegals are here illegally. The crimes that illegals commit are entirely preventable. The suffering that those crimes cause is preventable. Plus you don't really know the true crime rate in illegal immigrants because no one tabulates it. You are just parroting liberal talking points.

When Republicans win back Congress and the White House we need to pass a bill that finally closes the border and call it the Laken Riley bill.
