If Florida has this many criminals on their team, what does that say about their fans

The Florida Gators football program continues to find itself in the news for all the wrong reasons.

With 10 players now suspended for the season opener against Michigan, nearly the entire college football world has had something to say about it.

Florida opened up without its top playmaker, wide receiver Antonio Callaway, No. 1 running back Jordan Scarlett, offensive lineman Kadeem Telfort, wide receivers Rick Wells, linebackers James Houston and Ventrell Miller, and defensive linemen Richerd Desir-Jones, Nick Smith and Keivonnis Davis, all due to an ongoing investigation for misusing school funds.

Miller and wide receiver James Robinson were cited for drug possession recently as well, adding onto the preseason misconduct.

Fans and alumni can certainly put pressure on the athletic director to tighten things up. If they fail to I'd suggest that they can and should be held somewhat accountable. Look @ Penn State.

The teams do what they do. The fact that an 18 or 19 year old does stupid shit is not surprising. But trying to draw some conclusion about the fans based on that is insanity. The fans follow the TEAM. They do not control the players.

I don't recall blaming the fans for the criminal acts of the players. That's a construct of your imagination.

I asked what the presence of so many known criminals on the team says about the fans.

The AD and coach are not 18 or 19 years old. Presumably they are mature enough to understand the ramifications of weakness when dealing with criminal on their squad.

I expect them to act responsibly to curb criminality and discourage other young men from engaging in it in the future by taking decisive and clear-cut action that is unmistakably firm and fair. I think they failed.

The fans most certainly control the team to the extent that they vote with their wallets if the AD does not step up and nip criminal behavior in the bud in a forceful and meaningful manner.

Florida, like Penn State failed to do that IMO and that sends a signal that disgraced NCAA football, the SEC, The Gators, and the U of F. And yes, the fans share the blame for that failure of leadership if they don't call it out.
