The latest from North Carolina pollsters indicates that Sen. Elizabeth Dole is trailing even further behind Democratic rival Kay Hagan as the two battle over the incumbent's "Godless" ad.
The race for North Carolina's Senate seat has become one of the ugliest in the country. Revelations that Dole spent little time in her home state over the last year as senator opened the seat for Hagan, a former state senator backed fiercely by the Democratic Party.
CNN/Opinion Research released a poll on Friday showing Hagan up 53 percent to Dole's 44 percent, the Democrat's biggest margin to date.
