Because none of the tenets of capitalism have ever suggested that the most socially progressive person is going to get ahead. I would imagine that the two would be closer to going hand in hand this day and age though. Gates, Buffet, and Bloomberg are just a few examples of some who are very progressive both socially and economically.
And I would assume that you are talking about Sterling here. I would think that the market would have sorted the mess out if it was left alone. But if it didn't then that is a societal problem where deep down people care more about their own entertainment than principles.
