This is exactly what was done in England and Australia. Registration, then confiscation followed.

The Second Amendment does not give anyone a right to own a gun. The Second relates to a militia. The gun nuts have had the American people faked out for years. Background checks are the way to go. You know there is a psychological test known as the MMPI, Minnesota Multiphasic Personality Inventory. One can not cheat on it. We can nail these psychotics and take away their weapons with ease.

I particularly like the idea of publishing gun owner names in the newspaper or internet. The First Amendment trumps the Second on this. Gun ownership is a matter of public record. Once we implement the background tests, we will not need to worry about an assault weapon or clip ban.

So you don't mind putting people at risk, by publishing such information?
Should we also publish the names and addresses of divorced women, so guys can find them easier and thereby ask them out on dates?

The only people who believe this are those who ignore the meaning of "the people" and how it is used throughout the document.

Didnt a former criminal say the release of gun license holders names was like a godsend to house breakers?

First they passed Patriot Act to give themselves the right to monitor people without warrant. Then they enpower themselves with the NDAA to detain citizens for life without due process. To deal with the expected resistence from people, they created Sandy Hook shooting to take over the guns before they perform such law. Don't you realize it?

"They" are primarially the Republicans. Look at the voting record in congress of both patries on the partiot act. I think only 1 republican in the senate voted against it.

How many Dems voted against it? Not a lot as it went through almost unopposed during the SUPER MAJORITY.
 
DOJ Memo: Outlaw and Confiscate All Guns

The National Rifle Association has obtained a Department of Justice memo calling for national gun registration and confiscation. The nine page “cursory summary” on current gun control initiatives was not officially released by the Obama administration.

The DOJ memo (downloadable here as a PDF) states the administration “believes that a gun ban will not work without mandatory gun confiscation,” according to the NRA, and thinks universal background checks “won’t work without requiring national gun registration.” Obama has yet to publicly support national registration or firearms confiscation, although the memo reveals his administration is moving in that direction.

The memo stands in stark contrast to the administration’s public stance on so-called gun control. White House spokesman Jay Carney said last month that laws proposed by Obama would not “take away a gun from a single law-abiding American.”

The NRA declined to explain how it obtained the document. The memo was written by the acting director of the Justice Department’s National Institute of Justice, Greg Ridgeway. It is dated January 4, two weeks before Obama mounted his attack on the Second Amendment following the Sandy Hook massacre. Ridgeway came to the Justice Department from the RAND corporation.
