"Officials at Iowa State University prohibited a professor on Monday from dismissing students that turned in projects written from a point of view that opposed social issues, such as being against advocacy group Black Lives Matter.

English professor Chloe Clark made the statement in the syllabus for her English 250 class. Clark warned against the use of "othering" in class discussions or projects. Othering can be defined as intentionally marginalizing groups or individuals for not conforming to established societal norms.

"GIANT WARNING:" read Clark's syllabus, "any instance of othering that you participate in intentionally (racism, sexism, ableism, homophobia, sorophobia, transphobia, classism, mocking of mental health issues, body shaming, etc) in class are grounds for dismissal from the classroom."'

Being against groups such as BLM and ‘othering’ are two different issues.

Both are protected by freedom of speech and no college has any business trying to restrict the free exchange of ideas. This is a fascist professor.

If Universities are supposed to be a place where ideas are discussed and people are challenged then what this professor is creating in her classroom sure seems like the opposite.

That's exactly what the far Left would want to do generally if they ever got the chance.

I didn’t say he was right or even whether I agreed with him. I said they were two different concepts.

One small victory in finally addressing campus radicalism, finally.

Better late than never.

Wtf is ‘othering’ lol? Imagine graduating from college in near-six figure debt only to be ‘educated’ about othering and other palpable nonsense. It’s to the point that any college that receives any kind of federal money should *be required* to have a minimum number of conservative professors on staff.

They need new -isms to be able to publish, lecture, and consult about new problems.

Never heard of sorophobia. I thought maybe it was fear of sororities.

"In Sorophobia, Helena Michie argues that a feminism advocating "sisterhood" risks negating undeniable cultural differences that exist both among small communities of women and across nations."

"Othering is "verbing" for "the other" which refers to those different than ourselves (as long it is applies to minorities).

Is this really a surprise from one of the guards at the indoctrination centers?

But Joe Biden said there is no diversity in the black community like in the Latino community. Someone is screwed up m in the head here.

Flash didn't reach whatever mediocre success on his own. He owes it to the institutionally racist system that provided no obstacles or hindrances in his life.

And the thing is, even with all those advantages, he is still painfully mediocre.

Well, the black community does not have the many racial variations as Hispanics who can be white, black, Asian, mestizo.....

I really don't believe in the indoctrination accusations, but professors like these is what creates that impression. I have articles from the Chronicle of Higher Education for many years with stories like these. One required to write opposing the invasion of Iraq, another required each student to acknowledge their white privilege........all fascists.

So you with joe, blacks are all alike. Got it.

What are the different races among African-Americans? You need to read again--I said they don't have the same racial variations.

Very different from saying they are all alike.

LMBO. People within the same groups are not the same. The statement was a bonehead comment by a ceritified bobehead. You will have to dance by yourself on this one.

Not really interested in what you believe. Those are indoctrination tactics at indoctrination centers where leftist b.s. a virtual stranglehold on the entire fueled of academia.
