Iran's attack on Israel stirs admiration among Gaza Palestinians

We fight, We win
CAIRO (Reuters) -Iran's attack on Israel drew applause from many Palestinians in Gaza on Sunday as rare payback for the Israeli offensive on their enclave, although some said they suspected Tehran had staged the assault more for show than to inflict real damage.

"For the first time, we saw some rockets that didn’t land in our areas. These rockets were going into the occupied Palestine,” said Abu Abdallah, referring to land that became Israel in 1948 rather the occupied West Bank and Gaza.

“We are hopeful that if Iran or any other country enters the war a solution for Gaza might be nearer than ever. The Americans may have to resolve Gaza to end the roots of the problem,” said Abu Abdallah, 32, using a nickname rather than his full name.

Many in Gaza have felt abandoned by Middle East neighbours since Israel began an offensive that has killed more than 33,000 people in response to attacks on Israeli soil by Hamas, who killed 1,200 people and took 253 hostage on Oct. 7.

However support has come from Iran and its regional proxies, who are allies of Gaza's Hamas Islamist rulers. Syria and Yemen's Houthi group called the Iranian strike legitimate. Iran's ally Hezbollah in Lebanon praised the attack as "brave".

Iran's strike was a costly and futile gesture in the end. It may have given some Palestinians a momentary morale boost but to what end? Israel is still grinding Gaza under, just as before. The Palestinians and Iran have proven once again, incapable of effectively fighting a war with Israel.

The only question left to answer here is: Will Israel do something to retaliate against Iran?

Sure they will, question becomes how severe it is and it will generate an Iranian response

Al Jazeera reported that Israel attacked military targets at a consulate office, not an embassy. No civilians harmed. Surgical strike. Iran and Hezzbolah supply and support Hamas.

This is a long held, ongoing proxy war.

“Israel strikes Iran consulate in Syria’s capital Damascus: What we know

The consulate, which is next to the main embassy building in Damascus’s Mezzeh district, was struck at about 5pm (14:00 GMT) on Monday.

The United Kingdom-based war monitor, the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights, said as many as 11 people had been killed, including eight Iranians, two Syrians and one Lebanese, all of them fighters.”

Lebanon’s Iran-backed Hezbollah group warned that Israel would pay for the attack.

Hezbollah has exchanged near-daily cross-border fire with Israel in support of its ally Hamas since the Gaza war erupted in October.”

Sure is interesting that the Mind Molders (nee journalists) almost always ignore that the Iranians were responding to Israel's overt act of war.

Legally it is considered to be the same.

Iran shot missiles and drones directly into/at the Israeli homeland. To me there is a difference.

If you want to be technical. the OP's news story indicated it was not actually the embassy proper.

Lets not quibble. I think you understand my point.

That is the claim but it is a lie...this was the embassy...Iran is completely justified according to international law in responding how they did.

The children of Washington who claim to be pursuing a rules based order must be forced to notice.

There's talk that this attack was known in advance, and was more of a show to save face.

For all intents and purposes, Iran says it's over.

If Bibi acts as he typically does, he can start a world war in the region. Let's see how badly he believes he needs endless war to stay in power.

We both know that his days are numbered. All that remains is to see how delusional he is.

He had the Western world at his side for this defensive action.

He will NOT have them for any acts of aggression.

If Iran wanted to blow up any part of Israel, the attacks would have come from much closer.

This was a photo op, and nothing more.

About the only way Iran could successfully deliver a bomb to a target in Israel is hire DHL or FedX and hope they don't figure out what's in the package...

Alois Brunner was a terrible Nazi who killed a hundred thousand Jews, and then fled to Syria when Nazi hunters began closing in on him. He liked the Syrians would protect him, but hated that he could not buy the European goods he was accustom to. He would try to receive them by mail order.

In 1961, he got a package from Germany, and he opened it with excitement. As he stared down at it, an explosion blew out one of his eyes. You guessed it, the package was sent by the Israelis. At first, Brunner was very careful about new packages from Europe, but over the decades, he relaxed. Then in 1980, a package from Austria blew off all the fingers on his left hand. After that he made due with Syrian consumer goods.
