Is Obama Losing His Base?

So even Bill Maher finally gets it? It is somewhat gratifying for me to watch liberals who so swooned over a Chicago politician as the “chosen one” to come down to earth and join the rest of us who never slipped the surly bonds of reality and common sense back in 2008. The liberal infatuation with Barack Obama about which we on this side of the divide have commented many times seems to be finally fading as the truth of who this man is and always was sinks in.

Your problem is that the GOP has nobody on hand to replace him...

the Republican candidate field is like a " tallest leprechaun" contest.

Obama can move only as fast as the lawmakers can evolve. Throughout history there have been great men who discovered truths and it took the powerful years to finally accept them. An example is Copernicus and his heliocentric theory. It took 200 years before society (the church) accepted his views.

(Excerpt) Nicolaus Copernicus published the definitive statement of his system in De Revolutionibus in 1543. Copernicus began to write it in 1506 and finished it in 1530, but did not publish it until the year of his death.

In 1758 the Catholic Church dropped the general prohibition of books advocating heliocentrism from the Index of Forbidden Books. Pope Pius VII approved a decree in 1822 by the Sacred Congregation of the Inquisition to allow the printing of heliocentric books in Rome. (End)

While it's been shown social policies are instrumental in advancing society there are those who say it will come to a crashing end. No doubt a similar argument was used by folks, centuries ago, claiming if people went far enough they'd drop off the face of the earth.

Of course Obama is going to keep his base. They'll bitch and whine and that's completely natural. While they're frustrated they understand Obama can lead the lawmakers to the fountain of knowledge but he can't make them drink.

Obamas only chance of winning is if a big name third party option comes around.
Man....what rock have you been hiding under? Obama's only chance of losing....and it's a slight one at that...is if the GOP nominates Romney. People haven't fogoten the unmitigated disaster that was the Bush years and they haven't forgoten how he drove this nation into a ditch. Obama deserves plenty of praise of mitigating the damage that Bush did to this country but that's not good enough. He wasn't elected to mitigate the disaster that was Bush he was elected to fix the problems that Bush dumped us into.

Of course you'll never convince the far right that their Messiah Bush was a disaster...no matter how brightly Rome burns.

What kind words have you ever heard me say about Bush?

I was telling people how bad Bush was before he ran for his first term.

He did some really bad things here in Texas to add to his time as pres.

What really cofuses me is the way people defend Obama. Why? He's about as bad as could be.

4 years ago I was saying that Bush was the worse Pres I've ever seen. I can't believe that Obama could be any worse, but he is.

I call Obama, "Bush number 3". Or Bush 2.

And you kiss his ass. Why? Why not just come out and say the truth.

The reason is because you're a Democrat Socialist I guess. It doesn't bother you that he's trading our liberty for (non) security as long as your guy is in office.

Liberty rings hollow when one can't afford medical attention or when the government, under the pretext of caring about the people, tries to convince them of the benefits of private retirement plans vs SS knowing the disaster that preceded Government Social Security.

"Cons" is a most fitting tag for the Republicans.

That wasn't the case with the people who started this country. Most just wanted to be left alone from big government. What good is private retirement when it's being (been) taken away to be given to public retirement.

Your ["Cons" is a most fitting tag for the Republicans] doesn't reflect on me.
