Jordan airforce shoots down Iranian drones flying over to Israel

AMMAN (Reuters) -Jordan's air force intercepted and shot down dozens of Iranian drones that violated its airspace and were heading to Israel, two regional security sources said.

They said the army was also in a state of high alert and radar systems were monitoring any drone activity coming from the direction of Iraq and Syria.

Residents in several cities in the northern part of the country near Syria and central and southern areas heard heavy aerial activity.

In neighbourhoods south of the capital Amman, 60 km (37 miles) from Jerusalem, several downed drones were seen.

Seems that launching drones loaded with high explosives into your neighboring countries, even if to ostensibly overfly them on the way to somewhere else, isn't exactly appreciated...

The Arab Middle East is tribal. I've seen that up close, first hand. In Bahrain, it was Bahrainis first, Gulf States second, and Saudis came last. The same goes with Iraq. You have Arabs and Kurds (not Arabs) then the breakdown by religion second. The different head scarfs are like gang clothing. Red and white is Saudi, Gulf States white, Palestinian, white and black, etc. Racism abounds within these different tribes, some subtle, some in your face.
Iran is something of an outsider to all that making them a target that unites the Arabs, much the way the Jews have been too.

One thing they all share is a highly stratified caste system where certain families own and control virtually everything, much like medieval royalty. It makes these countries, Iran included, prone to being unable to really produce a reliable and skilled military. Instead, you have military leadership based on who you are, incompetent or not, and the rank and file are treated much like cattle. Technical and professional competence is nonexistent.

What you get is a military like Ukraine or Russia has with a mass of iffy conscripts led by officers of indifferent quality who really don't give a shit about their men. Against a like military, it's all a wash. Against a professional military with competent and skilled manpower, they get an ass stomping in short order.

That explains why they keep getting their asses kicked. I trained both Saudis and Kuwaitis in the 90s. Mostly Saudis and they were mostly as you described; privileged people vs competent people. The Kuwaitis were far fewer but much more competent.
 
Russia is MAGA's favorite country, and Russia is Iran's ally. Anything MAGA does to support Russia - like abandoning Ukraine - is bound to help Iran.
