Republicans have controlled the House of Representatives for eight brief but exhausting months. Even by the standards of the GOP chamber’s nonstop chaos, though, McCarthy’s unprecedented ouster stood apart. The often-vitriolic speeches from pro- and anti-McCarthy factions revealed a party so deep in its own cultural revolution that the horizon line of rational governance no longer exists.

Just like so many cultural revolutions before it, the MAGA movement McCarthy won his Speakership by appeasing eventually came calling for his head. Now the Speaker’s chair is vacant — a fitting testament to a political movement that has spent much of the past year careening the nation from one avoidable national crisis to the next. It also leaves no question about how deeply the MAGA movement has embedded itself with the broader Republican Party. McCarthy’s fall completes that grim merger. The extremists now have the wheel.

You are clueless on woke and obviously cannot address the subject of the thread. McCarthy suffers from Trumpian ego problem. He wanted to be the speaker and would do anything to get it. He wants his portrait on the wall. He is making paragraphs in history books as the speaker to be ousted and unable to control his party. Whatever prestige that accompanies the position is now a black mark on his career.

Starting to believe this whole fiasco is being orchestrated from MaraLago. Trump throwing McCarthy under the bus so that he can get his man Jordan installed as Speaker. Jimmy will speed dial the impeachment his Messiah demands

Gaetz was just the pawn to put the move into action, and now Jordan is out there telling everyone he can unify the party because he can return the delinquent eight to the fold, their from his freedom idiocy. In fact, Jimmy was all ready prepared the day Kevin was fired with the campaign and rolling calls to representatives
