Durrr..the Second Amendment doesn't work in other countries?

"The Department of State warns all U.S. citizens against taking any type of firearm or ammunition into Mexico," the U.S. Embassy in Mexico writes on its website. "Entering Mexico with a firearm, certain types of knives, or even a single round of ammunition is illegal, even if the weapon or ammunition is taken into Mexico unintentionally."

A Marine veteran jailed for months in Mexico after trying to carry a family heirloom shotgun across the border has been freed, officials and his lawyer said late Friday.

Mexican law bans shotguns with barrels of less than 25 inches. Hammar's shotgun has a barrel of 24 inches.

Tourists are allowed to bring guns for hunting on rare occasions, but Mexican officials said all visitors must receive a special permit before entering the country. Mexican customs agents do not issue gun permits.

As a result, anyone crossing the border with a firearm or ammunition without a previously issued government permit is in instant violation of Mexican law, which stipulates long jail terms for breaking weapons laws.

Rightwing guntard mentioning Fast & Furious in 3, 2, 1....

Meanwhile in the USA, millions of illiegals, that crossed the boarder illegally and broke our immigration laws are free to take jobs from US citizens, commit crimes, collect all the free benefits that California and other states offer them without any reprecussions.

And lets not even talk about the drug cartels in Mexico that have killed thousands of innocent viticms, yet the goverment of Mexico does nothing. But let one US citizen bring in an antique shotgun, and they want to lock him up for life.

Another two-faced Rightie thinks immigrants should obey our laws, but that Americans should be allowed to flaunt the laws of other countries with impunity.

Well, the American in question had a letter of approval from the Mexican government. He did still break the law in regards to the barrel length, but he did so under the impression that he was allowed to do so. Now if he had been a ATF agent he'd be given executive privilege.
