Legislate Height and Weight

I've only been in Massachusetts for two months and this place has lived up to its reputation and then some. Some local pol is trying to pass a law banning discrmination based on height and weight for hiring. Seriously, how the hell are you ever going to prove that? At this rate there will be so many laws that you are basically required to hire anyone you interview as you will breaking some law if you don't.

Nice state Chapdog.

hey i dont defend it.. its why i ALWAYS vote anti democrat for the governor. we need checks in balances in this state. Romney left us high and dry to run for president.. in his wake he left someone that was not so popular with the people running against a hot shot in duvaul patrick.

since then we have had a non stop flurry of local communist pol's coming out of the woodwork.. exactly as we suspected would happen and akin to the Dukakis times.

From those times till now with republican check and balance this state had been working very nice. Job markets swelling, companies moving in in droves, infrastructure improvements, #2 in education system, #1 in medical care..

i hope we dont fall to much under 1 party rule.

You're nuts. "Non stop flurry of local communist pol's coming out of the woodwork?" What the fuck are you talking about?

This bill has about as much a chance of passing as Deval's casino plan.

im nuts? come on this states got some real loony lefties in it.. MOST DEFINITELY.

they are kept in the back of the state house most of the time.. but have become more emboldened with the fact that duvaul is the governor. I cant wait for obama to become president and take Patrick out of here

Who are you talking about? How are they emboldened? Seems to me that anyone associated with Deval is getting smacked down by DiMasi and if you'r ein the House, where most of the crazies are, you don't want to be on DiMasi's shit list.

The loonies are just as marginalized now as they were when Romney was governor.

State like MA needs a republican governor. 1 party rule is NEVER good.

That would be similar to California then. Besides Arnold every statewide elected official is a Democrat.

Democrats dominate both the state house and senate but based on a 2/3rds need for votes to pass increase in taxes etc. the Republicans can have a say if they vote as a group as a couple of Republican votes are usually needed to make the 2/3 number.

its not like im in the minority in thinking that way. its why a state like MA had weld then cellucci then swift then Romney as governor all in a row.. and how we went from TAXachusetts to a relativity low tax state to live in compared to RI and CT. and how we got our education and health care services so high.

What's up with the health care? It seems like in the past month the talk in the papers has mostly been about cost overruns. Is the system working as expected or hoped?

The spin on it is that the system is working too well. That is, more uninsured signed up for the state-subsidized health insurance than anticipated resulting in increase costs for the state.

like any health care plan they put in place there will be overruns.. LOL do you think with any self evidence and truth that ANY type of plan that government puts out to us be it a national health care or a lesser variant.. will ACTUALLY cost less then they say to pass it?

that's the scariest thing i can possibly imagine besides some sort of devastating attack on our country... a massive national heath care plan from a hillary clinton top down approach would be the end of us.

I just wish for once that government doest try to bullshit us on the cost of a new government plan... its like dealing with a car dealer.. lease this brand new lexus for $299 a month.. then in small print. with 5k down as signing and an 800 credit score

I figure I'd move there if I was uninsured... ;)

Depends on what you expected.
It is not doing to well from either side of the fence right now. Plus some states are actually making the industry pay for problems they cause. ie if a paitent has a problem that is caused by the hops the hosp has to pay to fix it, not medicare/medicaid.
