"Lost in the kerfufle of the cartoon was the anger of the Obama campaign at the article it illustrated - a 15,000 word piece by the New Yorker's Ryan Lizza.

Lizza reveals a level of political opportunism in the Obama campaign barely touched on in the millions of column inches that have been written about him since he rocketed to political fame.

Toni Preckwinkle, a close observer, friend, and one time confidante of Obama's, even says Obama joined the church of his former controversial pastor Jeremiah Wright for political reasons. "It's a church that would provide you with lots of social connections and prominent parishioners," she said. "It's a good place for a politician to be a member." The political opportunism was in evidence when Obama hooked up with the crooked Chicago real-estate developer Antoin (Tony) Rezko, (once his top fund-raiser and recently convicted of fraud, bribery, and money laundering): "Who you take money from is a reflection of your knowledge at the time and your principles
."
