The new poll comes as jury selection will begin in Trump’s New York trial on Monday.
A majority of voters believe former President Donald Trump has committed “serious federal crimes,” according to the latest New York Times/Siena College poll.
Fifty-three percent of likely voters said they believe this, while 39 percent of those surveyed said they did not believe that Trump committed serious crimes. Nine percent said they didn’t know or didn’t answer the question.
The numbers broken down by party affiliation show that 90 percent of Democrats believe he has committed serious crimes, while 17 percent of Republicans fall in this category. Forty-nine percent of independents shared this sentiment.
The new poll comes as jury selection will begin in Trump’s New York trial on Monday, setting the stage for an unprecedented presidential race. In what will be the first time a former U.S. president has gone to criminal trial, the next couple of months will place into focus the long-anticipated clash of Trump’s legal perils with his push to win back the White House. The former president is set to hold a rally in Pennsylvania Saturday evening, the last before court will hamper his ability to be on the campaign trail.
In New York, Trump is being tried on charges that he falsified business records to cover up a hush-money payment to porn star Stormy Daniels ahead of the 2016 election. He has continued to deny the charges while slamming the case as a political witch hunt.
Asked specifically about this case, 46 percent of likely voters surveyed said they believe Trump should be found guilty, while 37 percent said he should be found not guilty. Seventeen percent of voters said they didn’t know or didn’t answer the question.
A conviction in the Manhattan case could be particularly damaging for Trump among independents, as recent polls have shown these voters would be less likely to support the former president in this case. It may not make or break his chances of returning to the White House, but it could greatly harm his standing with some voters.

I never thought I would see the day a president would be on trial for fraudulently paying bribes to a porn actress.

I never thought I would see the day a president would be on trial for fraudulently paying bribes to a porn actress.

I never thought I would see the day when a president would execute an insurrection on the day of certification to attempt to stay in power
And that same (former) President would be the Republiclown nominee in the next presidential election.

Putting his own face on television was enough to warrant Trump's incarceration.

Every else is gilding the lily.

A sixth grade teacher asks her class how many were Trump supporters.

Despite them not knowing what a Trump supporter was but wanting to be liked by the teacher, they all raised their hands.

Well, all except for little Timmy.

The teacher looks over to little Timmy and asks, “Timmy, why are you being different again?”

He says, “well, because I’m not a Trump supporter.”

“Why aren’t you a Trump supporter?”

“Because I’m a Democrat.”

The teacher snuffs and says, “oh really? Why are you a Democrat?”

He responds, “well, my mom is a Democrat, my dad is a Democrat, so I’m a Democrat.”

She then says, “Oh really? Then what if your mom was a moron and your dad was an idiot, what would that make you?”

Little Timmy smiles and says, “a Trump supporter.”

They should have led with the Documents case. Then the electoral college interference. This case is nothing new. This is just Trump being Trump. Paying off porn stars, paying for abortions, and cheating on his wives is just how he is. Using the courts to avoid responsibility is how he avoids paying for what he does.
His actions are like OJs. If you have enough money you can avoid paying for your crimes. Hire lawyers and bury the people harmed in costs that cannot afford.

No matter what you think of O.J. Simpson,

he doesn't deserve to be compared to the infinitely more despicable Trump.

Joey Wet Panties, then you have nothing to worry about in the upcoming election. Why are you scared shitless?

You don't get to speak for everyone, Sock. You only get to speak for you. Omniscience fallacy.

I never thought I would see the day when a president would execute an insurrection on the day of certification to attempt to stay in power

No insurrection, Sock. You are hallucinating again.
There was no election in 2020, Sock.

They should have led with the Documents case.
No crime.
Then the electoral college interference.
No crime.
This case is nothing new. This is just Trump being Trump.
Trump is Trump. He is not anybody else, Sock.
Paying off porn stars, paying for abortions, and cheating on his wives is just how he is.
He doesn't pay for abortions. His wife doesn't seem to think 'Trump cheated'.
Using the courts to avoid responsibility is how he avoids paying for what he does.
Responsibility for what, Sock? Democrats use the courts to persecute.
His actions are like OJs.
Trump never played professional football, nor drove around L.A. in his SUV. He was never put on trial for murder.
If you have enough money you can avoid paying for your crimes.
What crimes, Sock?
Hire lawyers and bury the people harmed in costs that cannot afford.
He can, Sock.

Exactly, not only is this the least of the four cases, it also the one Trump can win, he is guilty, but question is guilty of a criminal offense, they should have tried as a civil case

Irony is that MAGA cries Trump is being prosecuted but if it were any one other than Trump all four of these cases would have been tried and completed by now.

No crime.
