Excerpts:

McCain saw the relationship in different terms. In his opening statement, he said he'd welcome the President on the campaign trail as his schedule allows, and he repeated that theme five times in ten minutes. He'd hold joint campaign events "in keeping with the President's schedule," he said. He hopes the President will "find time from his busy schedule" to campaign with him, he said. McCain apparently hasn't seen the "Week Ahead" memos the White House has been sending out that shows Bush's lame duck agenda sparsely dotted with feel-good meet-and-greets...

The President's approval numbers are still low, but in an age of micro-targeting, he can help shore up some wavering constituencies. To the extent McCain has trouble turning out the conservative base that still doesn't trust him on sanctity of life issues like stem cell research, Bush may be able to help...

Dana Perino said today the President would be giving McCain his "full-throated" support. "Their similarities when it comes to protecting the country and keeping taxes low are key to the G.O.P. winning in 2008," Perino says.

I still wonder if he will get huckelberry to shore up the religious right vote on abortion and stem cell, etc.
I do not predict it but it will not suprise me if it happens.

Yep McCain sure is a maverick

I'm unsure of the first post. Good that Bush will support? Are you claiming it's bad? Why?

Well with bush's backing the only democrat votes McCain will get are either the rasicsts or sexists in November.
And there are more registered dems than repubs, and bush only ranks 26% approval with independents.
he has blown his maverick cover.

Actually what I thought was most telling is that McCain was already taking a more or less "don't call us we'll call you" attitude with Bush. Why would you want someone that polls at or less than 30% nationwide campaigning for you. 70% of the American public thinks Dubya is doing a less than stellar job.
