Look, I'm all for John McCain campaigning on a pro-drilling message and doing photo ops and such on oil platforms and maybe even showing him showering in a light mist of sweet, sweet crude. That's cool. That's his policy proposal.
What I don't understand is how he can at the same time claim to "battle big oil" in his campaign commercials.
What's that all about? I understand that he has changed positions on scores of issues over the past four years or so, but it seems that now he's pushing two separate positions at the same time.
Or maybe the photo op is just a ruse, a Trojan Horse, and he's really planning a hostile takeover of the oil rig in the first stage of his fight against big oil. That, and he plans to accept all of their campaign donations as a means to bleed them dry.
