The death of a nearly blind refugee in Buffalo, New York, days after Border Patrol agents dropped him off at a coffee shop alone, has prompted an investigation into the circumstances of his final days and drawn sharp criticism from the mayor, who called the incident “deeply disturbing.”

Nurul Amin Shah Alam, 56, who spoke little English, had been missing since February 19, when the agents left him at the shop shortly after he was released from the Erie County
jail, officials said. His body was found five days later, around 8:30 p.m. Tuesday, about four miles from the coffee shop, the Buffalo Police Department said.

“Homicide detectives are investigating the circumstances and timeframe of events leading up to his death, following his release from custody,” the police department said in a statement.

Dammit! I just started a thread on this. I should have checked! Yep - they killed another legal resident. This is why trump thought it necessary to set that "trap" during the SOU!

Once you take custody of someone, you also take responsibility for that person. It is just common sense. It was ICE's responsibility to get him home safely.

Horseshit. He was RELEASED FROM JAIL, AND DIED NEARLY A WEEK LATER.

HOCUL'S responsibility

If they'd continued to hold hm, you and the rest of the fuckheads would be bitching about that.

So the coffee shop let him die....five days later.

The Erie County Medical Examiner conducted an autopsy and determined Shah Alam’s cause of death was health‑related. Exposure and homicide have been ruled out, Buffalo city spokesperson Nick Beiling said.

It is unclear when he died, but he definitely did not die a week later. His body was found 5 days later, so he was already dead a week later.

He was released from jail, but immediately grabbed by ICE. This blocked him from being safely returned home by his family. ICE then abandoned him in a parking lot very far from his home, where there was no chance he would be found by his family. They refused to tell his family where he was. His body was found five days later, two miles from where he was dropped off. He died sometime between being dropped off at the abandoned parking lot, and his body being found.

HOCUL'S responsibility
How is Hochul responsible? She is governor of New York State. Local police handed him to ICE, and they brought him out to the middle of nowhere. You can blame the local or federal government, but not the state government.

They could have released him to his family.
