Many worlds interpretation (MWI) = a deterministic state of reality; the quantum wave function collapse is objectively real and implies all possible outcomes of an observation physically occur in a Multiverse.

Copenhagen interpretation = a probabilistic state of reality; the quantum wave function collapse to a single state upon observation.

Science criticism. I get it. You are just interested in history.
 
CalTech physicist Sean Carrol claims physicists who are actually experts in quantum theory do not buy the Copenhagen interpretation anymore, they think it is baloney, even though that is what we were taught in Freshman physics 30 years ago.

That leaves MWI is is pretty freaky actually
