Christie Leads, Trump Loses When GOP Voters Asked Who They’d Definitely Vote For or Against

The real Republican presidential primary race is still months away, but for now New Jersey Governor Chris Christie appears to have the solidest support when likely primary voters are asked who they would definitely vote for. More primary voters say they would definitely vote against Donald Trump than for him.

A new Rasmussen Reports national telephone survey finds that given a list of 18 potential GOP nominees, 30% of Likely Republican Primary Voters say they definitely would vote for Christie. Another 22% say they would probably vote for him. Just 22% say they would probably or definitely vote against the governor, and 26% more are undecided. (To see survey question wording, click here.)

Twenty-six percent (26%) say they would definitely vote for either former Massachusetts Governor Mitt Romney or ex-Arkansas Governor Mike Huckabee, and just over 30% more say they would probably vote for either man.

Minnesota Congresswoman Michele Bachmann also has 26% definite support, with 24% of likely primary voters saying they would probably vote for her.
