In casuality figures, and nobody cares. Deployment after deployment. It's actually torture. We're torturing these people.

Meme will probably find this hystericall funny. It's too bad her and indisputable, who is sooooo concerned about how liberals "feel" about the troops, don't volunteer to go fight the war they support, and give two of our troops a freaking break they are desperate for.

It's really just too bad.

WASHINGTON (May 29) - Army soldiers committed suicide in 2007 at the highest rate on record, and the toll is climbing ever higher this year as long war deployments stretch on. At least 115 soldiers killed themselves last year, up from 102 the previous year, the Army said Thursday.

The Army said that when civilian rates are adjusted to cover the same age and gender mix that exists in the Army, the civilian rate is more like 19.5 per 100,000.

The 115 confirmed suicides among active-duty soldiers and National Guard and Reserve troops who had been activated amounted to a rate of 18.8 per 100,000 troops - the highest since the Army began keeping records in 1980.

Apparently being a civilian is torture too. Read the articles before you post them and save the drama queen routine for something that at least means something.

Actually, the Military screens for mental instability, or they used to, before they entered the Service...keeping Army, Airforce, Marines suicide rates lower than their age group in civilian life...over the years.

I would suppose that rates have risen because of War or the Anticipation of being sent to War, ....War is NOT a pretty thing and puts a great deal of additional stress on to the Military and their families I would imagine.

Another consideration is that IF the Military lowered their once standard, of not taking in possibly unstable recruits, and has had to take them in for need of soldiers...so the higher rates could come from this also and making them a little more Par with the civilian population...imo.
