Paulson's out there this morning saying that they have to pass this thing immediately.
The whole deal is really fishy; it will amount to a huge tax increase, and Bush's version has very little in the way of oversight, and they're supposed to sign off on it in after a day or 2 of consideration & debate?

It doesn't have any oversight. It says, in section 8:
"Decisions by the Secretary pursuant to the authority of this Act are non-reviewable and committed to agency discretion, and may not be reviewed by any court of law or any administrative agency."
He is the former CEO of Goldman Sachs. That's textbook facism. I know i sound like asshat, or Desh, I know what I sound like...but these are the facts, what am I supposed to say?

I really don't understand it that much. I need to do my own research but you're right, it smells extremely fishy. The fact that Bush supports it tells me it should be a no go though.

It's definitely in there Tiana, just google it and you'll get a ton of hits on it. It's not a conspiracy theory, even though I know it sounds like one. It's what the Dodd plan ixnays, by insisting on bipartisan oversight, but I realized this morning, it won't matter. Because of course, Bush will issue a signing statement.
Well, they can give it to me. I'll make sure they get a nice retirement. I'll even pay some mortgages with it.
It took years to get us here, it can take a month or two to make good laws and ensure they are even necessary. I fully agree.
